Coulter: All Assassins Are Liberals

Though the left tries to blame mass shootings on conservatives, most of the attackers are actually liberals, Ann Coulter says.
In fact, she believes, liberalism is a mental health issue.
"I was the first to say, and others ripped it off, liberalism is an aspect of mental illness," Coulter said Monday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity."
Host Sean Hannity noted that last week's Colorado school shooter was an avid socialist. Coulter said that every political assassination attempt in America that has been politically motivated came at the hands of a leftist.
When they are not a "run-of-the-mill nut," she said, they are always liberals.
"They are communitarians, they're socialists, they're communists," she said. "It is always, always, always liberals. There has never been a right-wing assassination attempt on a president or a member of Congress."
Rush Limbaugh made the same claim on his radio show Monday.
"The media doesn't want you to know this, but practically every one of these young kids shooting up schools is inspired by something to do with leftism, socialism, what have you," Limbaugh said. "When they can't tie 'em to the tea party, you don't hear about it anymore. You hear the 'mental health' explanation. Well, what mental health problem? Liberalism, guaranteed, is what's causing this."
Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, Coulter said, was a pot smoker. Marijuana has been shown to set off someone with a predisposition to schizophrenia, she said.
But not everyone was buying Coulter's argument. Writer Ben Greenman tweeted:

That he had to go back nearly 150 years to find an assassin he believes disproves Coulter's premise is pretty telling. Booth was a right-winger? Who knew. :laugh:

This is the kind of finger pointing rhetoric that makes American conservatism look bad.

I'm not sure I'd call it "finger pointing rhetoric."
I think what it is, is correcting the record.

It is completely germane because ever time something happens, they are quick to label the killer as Tea Party, NRA, Right Wing, etc. Pointing out the facts is relevant.

I thought she was talking about Americans, e.g., those who have shot up schools or theaters - not Middle Eastern terrorists.

Except that she's not talking about people like bin Laden, she's talking solely about the recent spate of domestic shooting sprees, like the whack-nut in Colorado last week.
