1. Do you have a doppelganger? (Has anyone ever told you that you look like someone who's "famous" or "infamous"? Do you agree/disagree?)

2. What's something you're kind of snobby about?

3. At what age did you consider yourself an adult?
@AllThatJazzZ

1. At various stages of maturity I have been told that I look like Bruce Willis or (the late) John Heard. Now that I have a full beard, my wife thinks I look like Sean Connery. I disagree, but she's entitled to her opinion, and in truth I do not mind the comparison. happy77

2. I am snobby about about very few things. About Scotch and Bourbon, perhaps - the cheap stuff never satisfies.

3. I thought of myself as a "grown-up" perhaps as early as 21. But I don't think I really grew up until about 36, when my father passed away and I was forced to re-examine the direction and focus of my life.

Hamas and Joe Biden meet the law of unintended consequences
By Mark C. Ross

Regardless of any particular details, the pandemic of Hamas-inspired campus unrest has pushed news of Trump’s hush money trial down to well below the fold.  It has also put Biden’s presidency in a most uncomfortable spotlight.  I seriously doubt that such was the intent of the organizers of these events.

Various explanations are being proffered as to who is behind this and why this is happening.  Some conservative commentators are pointing their fingers at the classical Marxist demand to replace traditional oppressive authority with their own.  Jihadis are inclined to tout the rising tide of Islamic supremacy.  College culture in its modern, snowflake-coddling sense is also a prime suspect.  I just can’t fail to notice any spontaneity in all of this.

George Soros, the archetypical James Bond villain, cannot escape consideration — but where necessary, he’s pretty good at covering his tracks.  Others are also under suspicion — and all their motives are fairly similar: destabilization of the existing “order.”

His statement when speaking about transitory inflation….

"The lack of specificity about the cadence that was implied by that word, the temporal cadence implied by that word, led to a level of ambiguity..."

Does anybody here speak “word salad?”

1. Do you have a doppelganger? (Has anyone ever told you that you look like someone who's "famous" or "infamous"? Do you agree/disagree?)

When I was in high school and The Dick Van Dyke show was on (new, not reruns), my friends told me I look like Mary Tyler Moore. I didn't necessarily agree at the time (although we had the same hair), but as I look at pics of me from back then, I think they were prolly right. As the years went on and we both aged, I didn't favor her as much. Just a little bit during the MTM show years, but only if my hair was just right. When she passed a few years ago and there was coverage of her career in the news, I heard from a few of my classmates who reminded me of those days.

2. What's something you're kind of snobby about?

Like most Texans, I'm an uber proud Texan. We don't even care if people don't like us for our boasting. We're Texans. We're fine with it. It's a Texas thang, y'all.  :tongue2:

Also, after decades of publishing, editing, layout, etc., I'm ridiculously knowledgeable about grammar, syntax, spelling and all that jazz. It's a blessing and a curse. I can't not see misspellings or sloppy construction. One thing that drives me CRAZY is when someone in the media uses improper grammar. It shouldn't happen at all, and it happens far too often. OMG, y'all! Learn the tools of your trade!  9999hair out0000

In my retirement years, I've relaxed and become more casual in my writings.

3. At what age did you consider yourself an adult?

Still waiting.

What is Biden’s endgame in bringing in terrorists?
By D. Parker

The ruling class left has seen the importation of thousands, if not millions of military-aged men from enemy nations.

And now in a move that dials the insanity up to eleventy, they want to bring in supporters of Hamas, if not the terrorists themselves. Everyone is anticipating an October 7-type attack in the states that will make 9/11 look like a pinprick by comparison.

So, how do they think they are going to politically survive bringing on such an attack after importing these people in?

What is their plan, and what is their endgame after the inevitable terrorist attack that they’ve facilitated?

It’s a mind-boggling move to bring in people who overwhelmingly support a terrorist organization.

But with the ever-present warnings of the growing threat of terrorism and the looming election, it easily pushes the insanity off the scale.

Understatement of the year

I can understand the fiscal argument. But to have a Trumper worrying about saddling  our grandkids with debt rings hollow

I see it this way, if Russia wins our grandkids are going to fight Russia and China.

Has Leftist Lawfare Created the Police State Yet?
By Greg Salsbury

Increasing numbers of worried Americans have been wondering over the last few years whether progressive Democrats have succeeded in creating a police state in America. From the Russia Hoax to the revelations of the Twitter Files release, to the coordinated attempts to quash scandalous and true Biden family stories, to the blatant display of dual justice, they’ve seen that the cabal of one political party, with its power bases in the government and the sycophant media, has succeeded in limiting or destroying political opponents while eliminating individual rights. Just how bad is it? Has that cabal suspended our American Constitution and Bill of Rights and created an authoritarian alternative? Are we there yet?

In his piece “Shock and Awe on the Campaign Trail,” Roger Kimball outlines the numerous and egregious illegalities and irregularities taking place in the legal assault on candidate Trump and asks, “Why are people not up in arms over these revelations?” Similarly, in his interview with Mike Davis, who founded the “Article III Project,” Steve Bannon says, “I don’t know why people are not more on fire with the ridiculousness, the obvious lawfare, which is working, because Trump is not on the campaign trail.”
