A video filmed in a Brooklyn neighborhood shows people cheering police officers on as they walked by in riot gear Monday night during another night of violent protests in New York City.
“Brooklyn: Crown Heights residents cheer and salute the #NYPD as hundreds of officers in riot gear pass by on Eastern Parkway,†the NYC Scanner account tweeted Monday evening.

“I believe the mayor underestimates the scope of the problem,†Cuomo continued. “I think he underestimates the duration of the problem. And I don’t think they’ve used enough police to address the situation because it’s inarguable ... that it was not addressed last night.â€

I watched on TV some mask-less brainstem emerge from a shattered Ross store window in Long Beach with an armload of garments, price tags tangling, lingering in front of the camera while caucusing with a fellow looter, then proceed to throw the merchandise into the trunk of his double-parked sedan, closing the trunk revealing his license number. All on video.
I guess it doesn't occur to these idiots in the heat of the moment, but given the evidence they've kindly made available the prosecution of each of their cases can be easily handled by one unpaid FBI intern.

If they know what they are doing, which is doubtful, they will sell them to a fence who will then sell them to a foreign broker for sale overseas somewhere. Pawn shops, Craigslist, Ebay, ... well everybody, is going to be on super high alert for stolen goods for the next six month or more.
These looters could wind up in the same situation as all the TP hoarders. They wind up with tons of stuff, but have no way to sell it.

Fifty-four percent of Americans said that the actions taken by demonstrators are either somewhat or fully justified, compared to 38 percent who said that the actions weren't justified at all.

Because now—after his incompetent order to send covid19 patients back into nursing facilities that resulted in thousands of deaths—he knows he has no chance of EVER being elected president, he will need to be re-elected governor. Hence, his public pronouncement about the even more incompetent DeBlasio.

Brian Jordan Bartels, a 20-year-old man who Pittsburgh police said is suspected of inciting violence during a protest, was escorted by his parents as he turned himself in Monday.

Local law enforcement were investigating the destruction of a police SUV when they received an anonymous tip from a co-worker at Amazon who recognized Bartels at the scene of the crime, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The vehicle was set on fire after being tagged with spray paint Saturday, although police officers eventually arrived on horseback to disperse the rioters.
According to a criminal complaint and eyewitness accounts, a woman tried to stop Bartels from damaging the SUV, but he gave her the finger and proceeded to break the car’s windows.

I'd prefer a jury with the actual facts to determine if it was murder or not. A knee to the neck behind the ears does not suffocate you. Nor does it cut off blood to the brain. At least not in a normal person. There's more to the story than what the video shows. More likely is heart failure due to poor health, drugs and fighting with the police exerting a lot of energy.
Failure to render aid maybe the most chargeable offence that could stick if the facts as reported are true.

Cuomo is the Governor of the State of New York. Cuomo is the Commander-in-Chief of the New York National Guard. If Cuomo is not willing to lead here, then he needs to resign.
Here in Georgia, the Republican Governor mobilized 1,500 National Guard troops on Saturday, and doubled that number on Sunday. He directly coordinated with the Democrat mayor to implement plans and strategies, coordinating tactics with Atlanta Police, Georgia State Patrol, Cobb County SWAT, Dunwoody Police, Fulton, Dekalb, and Gwinnett County Police, and the Georgia National Guard, that proved to be extremely effective at minimizing property damage. Yet in New York, a Democrat Governor can't work with a Democrat Mayor to implement a plan?
Cuomo and DeBlasio should both resign. They each lack the capacity for leadership.

Somebody’s got to be thrown into the angry volcano. Looks like it’ll be at least one or all four of the police officers involved. As if cops don’t have a tough enough job.
There will be unintended consequences of course. Fewer good people will be willing to join the police force, more now in uniform will be holding back, unwilling to risk encounters with people of color [sic] and more cops who will die because of that hesitation...JMHO.

The topic was to listen viewpoints from people of other ethnic backgrounds about their life experiences so that others could understand their feelings, gain a grasp on why these current protests are taking place, and embrace the need for diversity of our work environment. Openness and tolerance were encouraged, freeing people to share their experiences without repercussions.
Five minutes into the call, my wife realized that if she spoke openly of her life experiences, she would be fired on the spot. Because in this ocean of tolerance that was being advertised, there was an underlying intolerance of one characteristic that was so extreme - Conservatism. If anyone in her company got wind that she voted for Trump in 2016, then she would be fired on the spot.

My So-Cal beach town, although prominently in the news, didn't suffer damage.
It is widely reported volunteers helped owners board up stores, then prepared to stand guard all night.
Armed of course with newspapers rolled up and strong suggestions to please go away.
It worked.
IMO from whaat I've seen this is generational. Your taxes at work high school and college education. free college tuition. forgive the student loans.

What exactly does it mean when the leader of the authoritarian arm of local government, the arm which asserts a virtual monopoly on violence as an acceptable method of coercion, talks about "my people" and asserts that "we" built this country? Can those of us excluded from his specific identity trust that his agency will treat us fairly?
Isn't the entire ostensible premise of the current "protest" movement the belief that this exact sense of racial identity by police officers is unacceptable?
Chief Acevedo needs to heed his own advice and keep his mouth shut.

Protesters have invaded the burbs. Around 4 dozen white protesters are occupying the corners of Roswell Rd. and Johnson Ferry Rd. in East Cobb holding up BLM signs. I engaged one of them in a conversation pointing out that her sign was racist - that ALL lives matter. We shouldn't be divided up into separate groups with signs acknowledging only one race. We should stand together as one colorblind society. The sooner we do that, the sooner discrimination ends.
I then pointed out that legal abortion is what devalues human life, and that one out of three conceived black children is killed by abortion. So if black lives really matter to her, she should put down her sign and replace it with one that says "Stop Aborting Black Babies".
Didn't get many takers on that one. But then what do you expect from a bunch of liberal racists.
btw, Wal-Mart closed at 5 pm on account of looting that is taking place in states run by Democrats. Guess they don't realize it is a heck of a lot easier to loot a closed Wal-Mart than an open one. Idiots.

What the video did not show, was seen from another angle. There were two other police behind the SUV, also 'restraining' Floyd. One appeared to be kneeling on his ribs and back. Protesters have invaded the burbs. Around 4 dozen white protesters are occupying the corners of Roswell Rd. and Johnson Ferry Rd. in East Cobb holding up BLM signs. I engaged one of them in a conversation pointing out that her sign was racist - that ALL lives matter. We shouldn't be divided up into separate groups with signs acknowledging only one race. We should stand together as one colorblind society. The sooner we do that, the sooner discrimination ends.
I then pointed out that legal abortion is what devalues human life, and that one out of three conceived black children is killed by abortion. So if black lives really matter to her, she should put down her sign and replace it with one that says "Stop Aborting Black Babies".
Didn't get many takers on that one. But then what do you expect from a bunch of liberal racists.
btw, Wal-Mart closed at 5 pm on account of looting that is taking place in states run by Democrats. Guess they don't realize it is a heck of a lot easier to loot a closed Wal-Mart than an open one. Idiots.

What the video did not show, was seen from another angle. There were two other police behind the SUV, also 'restraining' Floyd. One appeared to be kneeling on his ribs and back. Juan is just flat wrong. But, he’s always wrong. Most things are very difficult for Juan to understand. He needs a connecting flight to get to the point. Systemic racism, Juan? Be specific, cite examples how that would work, if you can. My money’s on he can’t.
Watters’ sarcasm hit the right note when he said he’s never seen so many peaceful protesters committing acts of violence. I cheered that line.
And about the media? Well, you know exactly what I think of them. They are scum. Shameless liars who lie effortlessly for their own aggrandizement. Trump hiding in the bunker was spin. This difference is based upon something that can never be 'corrected' - skin color.
Unless we can embrace the simple dogma that ALL lives matter, then there is zero hope for a colorblind society. Yet cries of "All Lives Matter" are met with violence and persecution. The bottom line is that these people are mortal enemies of equality.

Police say a 31-year-old man dressed in a uniform, carried an assault rifle and tried to fall in line with National Guard troops in downtown Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Authorities took an armed man into custody Monday night in downtown Los Angeles after he tried to pose as a member of the National Guard.
Sources tell ABC7 that Gregory Wong, 31, dressed in attire similar to a National Guard uniform and took an Uber to downtown while carrying an assault rifle.
He then fell into formation with real National Guard troops who have been brought in to help maintain order during some of the looting that has occurred near otherwise-peaceful protests.
Some of the other National Guard troops noticed him and called over Los Angeles Police Department officers.
Wong was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday for manufacturing or distribution of an assault weapon. ...

In Brooklyn last night someone walked behind an NYPD officer, stabbed him in the neck, grabbed the cops gun and fired at two other officers, hitting them both in the hand. Officers fired back and shot the attacker.
The perp is hospital in critical condition. Too bad it’s only critical. I hope the officers didn’t take Biden’s advice and shoot for the legs.
