Title: Networks blamed shutdown on GOP in 41 stories --- 0 for Dems
Post by: Olivia on October 17, 2013, 05:39:34 pm
Republicans never expected to get a fair shake in the Big Three networks' coverage of the 16-day government shutdown, but the final tally of stories blaming the GOP is stunning: 41 stories blamed Republicans and zero blamed Democrats.

Nightly, 20 million Americans heard “a version of the shutdown story that could easily have emanated from Barack Obama's own White House,” said the new report from the Media Research Center.

The report, provided to Secrets, found that a total of 41 stories blamed Republicans for the shutdown. None blamed the Democrats. Another 17 blamed both sides.

In addition, those interviewed by the night news broadcasts by ABC, CBS and NBC whacked the Republicans by a six-to-one ratio, said the report.

“The broadcast networks invariably blamed Republicans for the impasse; spotlighted dozens of examples of how Americans were being victimized; and ran scores of soundbites from furloughed federal workers and others harmed by the shutdown — even as they ignored examples of how the Obama administration and Senate Democrats were working to make the shutdown as painful as possible,” said the report.

The media gets it wrong on purpose.  The average American is "mad a hell" about the republicans but for a different reason than the media wants you to believe.  We're mad at the republicans because they are constantly giving in to the democrats and giving them full control of what-ever they want.  Putting up a fight only gets our hope up but we should have known better.   :nometalk:

:amen:  I really hope the people of Arizona will see John McCain for what he is and throw him out.  The same thing goes for Lindsay Graham in South Carolina.
Both of these, along with Peter King, should be ashamed of themselves for airing their dislike of the conservative republicans.  It might have given them a little attention they crave but it certainly hurt the party.
Personally, I think they're all jealous of the new young conservatives and consider them a threat.

The mainstream news media is composed largely of former and future Democrat political operatives. They are Radio Barack, and the al-Obama Network. They are propagandists for the Progressive Welfare State.

The Republicans have never effectively dealt with this problem, and it is a problem for anyone who cares about truth, and about the free flow of information in a Republic.

Alternatives exist, as we all know, and they are growing.  But the GOP remains ever afraid of taking on the media, for fear that they will be denied access, or cast in a poor light - as if they are treated well now.

And of course, the great complicating factor is the schism within the Republican Party itself, between its elite leaders and its conservatives, which allows for easy exploitation by the Democrat media.

Agreed!

And Cruz didn't help things by implying that Republicans who opposed shutting down the government over Obamacare were the equivalent of Nazi enablers.

There were stink bombs thrown by both sides.

Once again Jeff Flake was not his own man and went along with McCain. I really miss Jon Kyl.

You just cannot resist continuing to lie about what Cruz said.  Are you capable of making a post that is not to slam Ted Cruz?  Don't bother to answer we all know the answer is no.

[[ I really hope the people of Arizona will see John McCain for what he is and throw him out.  The same thing goes for Lindsay Graham in South Carolina.

McCain's probably in that seat until he keels over, Lautenberg-style.

I think the South Carolinians are gonna see the light and give Lindsey the ol' heave ho in the primary there.

Peter King? He's from New York, right?
New York is New York.
Watch 'em elect an out-and-out socialist (perhaps a commie) for Mayor in November....

The Republican party will split into pieces and fade from the scene sooner than will the democrat-media complex...
