NYT: We might owe a COVID-19 lockdown apology to Florida after all

If so, the New York Times offers it grudgingly. They acknowledge that Florida’s death rate is no worse than the national average despite the state’s more liberalized approach to pandemic restrictions, which had critics predicting a catastrophe for months. In fact, Florida appears to have fared better than several states that imposed much more draconian lockdowns, although the NYT still casts Florida’s decisions as “an unspoken grand bargainâ€:
To bask in that feeling — even if it is only that — is to ignore the heavy toll the coronavirus exacted in Florida, one that is not yet over.
More than 32,000 Floridians have died, an unthinkable cost that the state’s leaders rarely acknowledge. Miami-Dade County averaged more than 1,000 new coronavirus cases a day over the past two weeks, one of the nation’s most serious outbreaks. And Florida is thought to have the highest concentration of B.1.1.7, the more contagious virus variant first identified in the United Kingdom.
Yet Florida’s death rate is no worse than the national average, and better than that of some other states that imposed more restrictions, despite its large numbers of retirees, young partyers and tourists. Caseloads and hospitalizations across most of the state are down. The tens of thousands of people who died were in some ways the result of an unspoken grand bargain — the price paid for keeping as many people as possible employed, educated and, some Floridians would argue, sane.

The NYT prefaced their admission with obligatory ritual Panic Porn:

As if FL were somehow an island apart, isolated from the same risk set as NY or MI or CA.

Forget the apology. What is owed is a forthright confession that you have replaced objective investigation and reporting with political advocacy and partisan propaganda which has resulted in unnecessary deaths in your local region - deaths that would have been avoided had you chosen to print the truth instead of Democrat Party narratives.

Nature will always take its course. Man is nothing more than a full tick on her ass. Florida knew that and let people live free.
It is now spring break season and I expect nothing serious will happen with the rona. Sun salt water and UV rays kill it dead. We have an abundace of all.
So I say to the NYT, bugger off you liberal pr#cks.
Side note: I was in line at the grocery store to check out (mask free like 80% of us in the store) when a tourist came up to me and said: "Don't you have to wear a mask in here?" I said: No maam, Florida is a maskfree state. Feel free to move around indoors like a free person!..
