First family greets W.H. Christmas tree

Preparations for Christmas are in full swing as the first family welcomed their tree at the White House on Friday.

Do those children ever look happy in any of these photo ops?

Be fair, flowers - would you at their age?

They seem nice enough kids. I do detest them being used as props though. I'll accept there are certain "traditional" family friendly photo ops that can't be avoided, but in the main I follow the accepted rule of "the kids are off limits." Matters not left or right.

With a punk for a father and a mad woman as a mother, how could they be happy ANY time?

I don't remember other prez children's during photo ops. Do you? Did they act like those 2? I don't care if they are used in those photo ops for situations like this. Or the turkey pardoning. I just thought it strange how they act all the time. Even at the last photo op of the family at that college basketball game, the daughters looked miserable.

I notice Barack is never present at these Christmas tree photo ops.

Too early in the day, perhaps.

Surprised that they don't have a Festivus pole instead.

Who knows what they have in the private residence.

I think it's the whole Christmas/Birth of Christ thing with Barack.  I think it makes his skin crawl.

Thinking back, with an extremely fallible memory - not really. The Clinton's worked like hell to keep Chelsea out of the limelight. One of the things they did I approved of. GWB - well, his daughters were already in college (near enough) when he got elected but there was maybe one or two pictures of them at photo ops in the 8 years.
This side of the pond - you almost never saw Blair or Brown's kids, and don't see the baby Cameron at all.

Odd, that.

I do remember some of the Bush girls photo ops. yes they were older. I think the one girl stuck her tongue out at the camera once.  I did see the obama girls look happy yesterday in the photo op at the bookstore.
