President Donald Trump’s travel ban will expire Sunday, and that could be the biggest news yet in the legal controversy surrounding his executive order on refugees and migrants.

The order took effect on June 29 and will expire this Sunday. Per the Supreme Court’s June ruling, migrants from six Muslim-majority nations without a bona fide connection to a person or institution in the U.S. may not enter the country for 90 days. A second provision suspending refugee resettlement for 120 days will expire later this year.

The New York Times reported Friday that the administration will replace the travel ban with a set of country-specific restrictions this weekend. Accordingly, it appears the White House will allow the order to expire on its own terms.

This involves a lot of legalese that's hard to understand but the bottom line seems to be that Trump will be able to enact a travel ban against certain countries that is judgment proof until and unless it gets to the Supreme Court.

Perhaps I'm missing something here or the title is misleading.  I don't see this as a victory at all as the travel ban was only for 90 days (which is about to expire) and the refugee resettlement was only for 120 days.  Nothing was won here unless the lower courts won't be able to rule against a future travel ban and refugee resettlement order.  The very last thing we need is an influx of Muslim refugees and loading this country with problems like Europe; specifically Germany!

IF SCOTUS gets it right, the decision sets precedent, meaning that a future EO from the Prez cannot be blocked or overturned by the lower Courts a 2nd time for the same reasons they floated the 1st time.

And since the reasons/excuses the lower courts resorted to to block the 1st ban were really reaching for a legal foothold (IE: the best they could come up with) those lower courts are gonna be left with even Worse/More Ridiculous reasons to block any new bans. Which doesn't mean they won't try, but this will make it considerably harder for them to do it a 2nd time.

And they're out of legal gas.
