Kate Middleton reveals she has cancer, is going through chemotherapy
By Kaydi Pelletier
Kate Middleton revealed Friday that she has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.
The Princess of Wales, 42, made the announcement herself in a video, saying, "This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family."
She shared the major abdominal surgery she underwent on Jan. 16 "was successful," and "it was thought
that my condition was non-cancerous," but that post-op tests "found cancer had been present."
Middleton said she is currently undergoing "preventative" chemotherapy, and is in the early stages of that.

What a beautifully simple and moving message. All those people who have indulged in ridiculous and cruel conspiracy theories should be ashamed of themselves.
As Kate says, we should be thinking of everyone and every family battling cancer. "Do not lose hope."

Tough times for the family, between Kate and her father-in-law.
-
Prince William will need help and comfort as he raises young children, fulfills his official duties, deals with his wife's cancer treatment, and also deals with his father's cancer treatment.
Caretakers, themselves, can need their own caretakeers. It's too much for any personal to handle alone.
-
Such elegant grace. Inspirational. I pray for her health and well-being. I also pray for the Royal Family. The world so desperately needs threads of tradition.
-
What are the odds of the king and his daughter-in-law having cancer at the same time?
Seems implausible.
-
Wow. This was so unexpected and unexpected for the Royal family. Kate having to make that video after she asked for privacy I'm sure is disheartening and was difficult. Sadly she was hounded by rumors and the press.
Prayers up for Kate and Charles and the entire family. William must be very overwhelmed with having his wife and father both battling cancer at the same time. Two individuals battling cancer in the same family at the same time almost makes me think perhaps the cause of them getting cancer may be environmental?

Vaxxed?

As a surviving spouse of a woman who died of ovarian cancer, I know what her family is going through. This is what I feared was the case when I saw that she was hospitalized. I hope her treatment is successful.

I would blame the Covid vax, but I know people who never got it can get cancer, too (my sister comes to mind).

My brother's wife is currently battling the same thing...she's in an NIH study group. Was given a maximum of 5 years since her diagnosis...it's now her 7th year of treatments. 8888crybaby

That's a tough one @massadvj to lose a spouse to cancer. I am sorry to hear of your loss.
Yes, prayers that her treatment is successful.

That's encouraging, DC. My sister (diagnosed w/ovarian cancer Jan. 2023) hasn't heard very happy things from her doctors, but we know it's not entirely in their hands. I hope Kate's problem is not ovarian cancer.

@mountaineer @libertybele
Yep...she started out with a Roswell Study in Buffalo, NY. Then they moved down here to Maryland to be closer to their grandchildren and was lucky to get into a Johns Hopkins Program Study...she completed that and has been with NIH for going on 2 years now.
She's a trooper who still drags herself to twice weekly yoga classes...God Bless Her!

Yes, @libertybele - some good test results lately, but no encouragement from doctors

Well, one day at a time; good test results are a positive. I will continue to keep her in my prayers.

Thank you. It will be 9 years on April 5th. The year and a half we spent fighting was the hardest time of my life.

Princess of Wales' speech in full
I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery.
It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful.
In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous.
The surgery was successful.
However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.
This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.
As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.
But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.
As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.
Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.
We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment.
My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.
At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer.
For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.

Harry and Meghan today said they are wishing the Princess of Wales 'health and healing' after she announced her shock cancer diagnosis.
'We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,' the couple said in a brief statement to Harper's Bazaar.
It remains unclear if Harry will return to the UK, as he did after King Charles' cancer diagnosis.

I realize she didn't say what kind of cancer, but since she had abdominal surgery, there's a very good chance that it's ovarian cancer she's battling. I pray they got it early.
Fourteen years ago almost to the week, I was rushed to the hospital with severe abdominal pain. A high fever indicated infection. After 3 days on antibiotics, I had surgery and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer (stage 2). I had chemo, endured chemo brain, got to see what I look like bald (kinda cute, actually), and ultimately beat cancer's evil attempt on my life. So, when someone else is in that same battle, it becomes personal to me. @massadvj, I'm so sorry you lost your beloved wife, and @mountaineer, I'm sad that your sister is in the midst of that battle now.
I know some things that I didn't know back then. If I were diagnosed with any kind of cancer today, I'd go full carnivore. Not to tell anyone how to address their health issues. Just saying that it's what I would trust at this point.
Prayers for Kate and Mary Beth for healing. Prayers for @massadvj for comfort.

Father and wife cancer diagnoses within months, 3 kids 10 and under, and State duties?
Incredible stress and pressure. Hope he holds on.

Indeed. I'm sure Kate's family will be helping as much as they can, but with this kind of stress he also needs to worry about his own health and take care of himself.

Bless you. Congratulations on succeeding in your treatment. My wife had stage 3C when it was discovered. There was very little hope she would make it. We met many amazing women during that time, some of whom did make it by the grace of God.

If she has hit 7 out of an anticipated 5, she is doing well, considering. Chemo and radiation and surgery are a bitch, though. Prayers up for your Sister in Law, for a cure.
-
What a noble (in the true sense) statement. God Bless Kate with a full recovery.

My sentiments exactly! Meghan is doing the math to see how she could be Queen of England AFter her FIL checks out from cancer in 2 years.

They say Meghan "The brown Royal" shares the same narcissistic and controlling qualities as Wallis Simpson. So who knows! LOL
