Report: Illegal Migrants Cost Texas Hospitals More Than $1 Billion in 2025

Illegal migrants have cost the state’s hospitals more than one billion dollars in unpaid care — greatly surpassing previous estimates — data from Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) shows.

The data comes from the requirements implemented after an order was signed in August 2024 by Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. In the state’s first report of its kind the HHSC found that nearly $122 million was spent on illegals in November 2024, but that estimate was deemed low since the reporting was just ramping up at the time. The HHSC reported that people who were “not legally present” in the United States utilized hospitals in the Lone Star State more than 31,000 time during that month.

As expected, the most recent report showed a huge amount of resources used by illegals.

The new report shows that illegals made 313,742 hospital visits in FY 2025, costing the state $1.05 billion. The largest portion of that amount, some $565 million, was spent on “inpatient discharges for non-Medicaid and non-CHIP patients,” according to Texas Scorecard.

Emergency room visits amounted to $230 million and inpatient care totaled $820 million, showing that longer-term care is eating up a large portion of the expenditures.  .  .  .

This plays out one of two ways for the Democrats.

• Trump enacts the Insurrection Act, the violence will escalate until there are more deaths. At that point, the Left will scream that he’s declared war on us citizens engaged in the exercise of their 1A right, or
• Trump does NOT call the insurrection Act into effect, the violence escalates until there is another death, at which time the left will blame him for NOT putting a stop to the rioting and violence caused by the presence of ICE.

The longer this goes on, the more money will have to shift to support it. The longer this goes on, the farther the money trails can be tracked. As much as I hate to say it, protracted is better (so long as ICE can avoid having to shoot another Leftist) PROVIDED, (As in IF and ONLY IF), when things are done (or even sooner), the fiscal sources for the funding can be AND ARE prosecuted without delay, funds frozen, and held liable for any and all damages resulting from this insanity.

Money is fungible, and the more the left has to spend on this, the less they have for the Midterms. ALSO DO NOT FUND the organizations feeding the Left, even if the government has to stay shut down.

Of course, residents (even legal ones) just want it to 'go away'. Their placid, blinders-on, lives are being disrupted, their stuff and kids endangered by the heightened tensions and nonsense.

If I imagine this on MY block, I'd be tempted to have the rifle or shotgun by the door, and I'd be packing heat at home. No one likes living with that sort of stress, especially people who are being fed nonsense that ICE is just rounding up peaceful and productive members of the community who just happen to be illegals. And those in on the whole scam, who benefit from it, directly or indirectly, will be doubly opposed, even if they aren't out in the streets contributing to the mayhem.
