Recently, reports surfaced that Rand Paul had been assaulted by one of his neighbors. The initial reports stated that Paul’s injuries weren’t serious.
Turns out that was false.

If it can be shown that the attack was politically motivated, the federal charges would be involved. But more than just the criminal aspects, the neighbor will be facing a dozen civil suits well beyond just the medical costs, which could potentially bankrupt him, especially if the attack has caused any kind of lifelong damage. This guy is in big trouble both criminal and civil courts. Probably more than he knows.

I will admit to being mindboggled by the whole thing. This guy is a doctor...a professional. He attacks a senator who is well known nationally (seemingly without immediate provocation) causing serious injuries and then pleads not guilty.
What, if anything, was going through this guy's mind when he attacked Paul? What did he think blind side tackling, knocking the senator off his riding mower would accomplish?
If even one who is a doctor can do something like this, what does it say for the mindset of many Democrats? How many of them are on the edge like this one? :shrug:

From the "Yahoo" reversion: Was it the pumpkin patch? The compost pile? Or Senator Rand Paul's apparent disregard for basic neighborhood civility that led one of his neighbors to tackle him from behind and crack six of the Kentucky lawmaker's ribs?

Rand was ON his riding lawnmower and the neighbor came from behind him and tackled him off the mower. Rand didn't know the guy was behind him. They have not spoken for years.
That absolutely makes no sense. What possessed that guy to do that?
One: maybe tackler is an alcoholic and was drunk out of his mind, and did that.
Two: he is a doc, can get drugs, maybe he was drugged out of his mind, and did that.
Three: he is just crazy out of his mind and did that.
No rational person would do that - something is wrong with that doc attacker.
Rand is lucky to be alive and lucky not to be in intensive care with punctured lungs fighting for his life.

According to what I have read, his Facebook page describes him as NeverTrump, Antifa, really far-Left, fanatic Socialist. In other words, he's just another wacko Liberal.
Whatever the reason was, he better pray for Sen. Paul's health. The worse it goes for Paul, the worse it will be for him. Both in terms of doing time, he will do time for this, and financially when the lawsuits start falling.

This certainly explains why this mental defective Commie is pleading not guilty in court. These Fed charges turn this thing up to Def Con 3 for this idiot and his lawyer is going to need to bargain this this down before trial.

If the Feds decline, the State is ready to upgrade the offense to Felony Aggravated Assault.

It might be different if the two of them were arguing, the neighbor lost it and made a regrettable error in judgment in the heat of that argument. But according to the story, Rand Paul was mowing the lawn when the neighbor jumped him and started wailing on him. Looks to me like there was no imminent danger to the neighbor, no provocation and the attack was premeditated. Under those circumstances, I don't see any mitigating factors. Unless the two of them can settle their differences beforehand or the prosecutor decides it's a waste of time and offers a plea deal, this guy should do some serious jail time. If I were Rand Paul, however, I would ensure there was no deal.
And by the way, I'm not a Rand Paul supporter.

If the lawnmower engine was running the "neighbor" should be looking at charge of "Attempting Great Bodily Harm Short of Murder."

I don't know. The Feds frequently charge "Civil Rights Violations" after locals fail to find somebody guilty of something, like the cops who beat Rodney King.

What was he thinking? He was thinking he's a doctor and a god. That his word is law and that anyone who doesn't bow down is deserving of what they get. Yes there are many good doctors, there are also many who think this way.
Add onto that a demonrat and he's thinking he's above the law and any refutation of his wishes will enrage him.
