Billion-dollar investment firm leaving Seattle amid 'unrest'
Phoenix will offer Smead Capital employees a lower cost of living and a better quality of life, company president says

By Evie FordhamFOXBusiness

The CEO of a billion-dollar investment firm said his company is getting out of Seattle just in time as residents accuse Mayor Jenny Durkan of letting the city's so-called Capitol Hill Occupied Protest get out of hand and turn deadly.

"The unrest that has taken place in the city of Seattle … there is really is not a downtown business community today," Smead Capital Management President Cole Smead told KTAR News on Monday.

Smead Capital announced the decision to move to Phoenix's Camelback Corridor last week.

"My biggest concern for Seattle was what the business community is going to come back to, and what kind of businesses are going to come back for customers," Smead told KTAR News.

Expect plenty more to leave Seattle.  I don't know how any business stays open in a socialist/liberal/tax and regulate environment to begin with.  Now with the terrorists in control with the aid of local government, any business would be foolish to stick around.

It’s not gonna be just Seattle either. This is the danger of progressivism. Put child like reasoning in the hands of adults that wield power and these are the results you get

Phoenix?
Ugh.
A lot of those [former] employees from Seattle aren't going to like the change in the weather.

Cheyenne... Boise... Salt Lake... that would be more like it.

Over the next few years, America is going to experience what is called 'White Flight' version two.

The name White Flight is what it is called, but what it is really is entrepreneur flight. It is affluence flight. By people of any ethnicity. The builders leave. The rioters and destroyers stay.

Once the business owner come to believe that the city wants their business to become a public charity operation, they will simply leave. What is the point of running a business when you are vilified by State and City leaders for working hard, making a profit, and living well? There is no point to it.

Democrats do not want you to 'donate to charity' as a percentage of profit, they consider all of it to be theirs. Your business becomes a 100% charity operation, all of it, not just a piece. Because personal profit is evil.

Hear, here!  Well said!

Even the CEO who love to throw money at the leftists eventually come to regret it, because the crocodiles eventually come.  Consider Elon Musk, and this investment company.

Speaking to Fishrr's comment, I really hope those snowflakes stay up there.  We could use the jobs in AZ, but not the dilution of the voting pool.
