Signs urging voters to “Retire Mitch” began springing up over the weekend in Louisville, Lexington and northern Kentucky, providing the first concrete evidence of a national tea party group effort to take down U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell.
FreedomWorks for America — which announced last month that it was endorsing McConnell’s Republican primary challenger, Matt Bevin, and would spend up to $500,000 toward that cause — paid for the signs. The group also is organizing others to begin canvassing neighborhoods for Bevin this week, said Russ Walker, FreedomWorks’ national political director.
"We have distributed over 5,000 signs around the Louisville and Lexington area and another 5,000 Bevin signs will be distributed this week,” Walker said.
There are reports of the black and white “Retire Mitch” signs throughout Jefferson County, in Prospect, Jeffersontown, Fern Creek, Valley Station and St. Matthews, in Lexington and in Fort Mitchell.

Mitch has voted repeatedly to increase the debt limit. Over the past 16 years, Sen. McConnell has voted to increase the debt limit 9 times for a grand total of $6.7 trillion. (CRS Report, 02/15/13)
Mitch talks a good game on taxes, but he voted to increase taxes on 80 percent of Kentuckians in the recent fiscal cliff deal. (RC #251, 01/01/13)
Mitch continuously votes for larger federal government, including No Child Left Behind (RC#371, 12/18/01), Medicare Part D (RC #459, 11/25/03), and the 2007 energy bill that raised taxes and imposed new mandates on automakers. (RC #430, 12/13/07)
Mitch McConnell voted to bail out the big Wall Street banks (RC #213, 10/01/08) and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (RC #186, 07/26/08) on the backs of Kentucky taxpayers.
Mitch voted for amnesty in 1986 & 2006. (RC #335, 10/17/86) (RC #157, 05/25/06) Mitch's lack of leadership allowed another amnesty bill to sail through the U.S. Senate. (RC #168, 06/27/13)
McConnell's opponent, Matt Bevin, is on record being FOR TARP before he was against it.
Link, please.
Your continual repeating of LIES will never make them the truth Sink! No matter how hard you try!
Being for TARP is one thing – many fiscal conservatives were – but being for it before you were against it, that's quite another thing. Bevin was on record supporting TARP. Though, I suppose one could choose to believe his explanation for signing the financial statement putting him on record.
**Bevin is Polling to beat the Democrat
**McConnell is Polling to lose to the Democrat

People want change.
Bevin's ass is hanging out over his support for TARP in 2008. No matter what he says, he supported it.Sorry to see Bevin may have supported TARP in 2008. Even sorrier to see what Mitch McConnell has been doing - or failing to do - in 2014.

Bevin's campaign said Tuesday he has always opposed TARP. The campaign said another Veracity official wrote the 2008 report, and Bevin's signature was a formality.
TARP was necessary.
I use TARP as a litmus test. Those who are still opposed to it are economic ignoramuses.
Ah, you left out one important fact:
McConnell is handily beating Bevin
But Bevin is saying that it was Bondi's judgment that he was signing off on. Two issues here. Was Bevin for TARP or not, and was Bevin responsible for holding the same judgment as his financial guy, Bondi. A case can be made for Bevin compartmentalizing that point. I'm sure Bevin is counting on that getting him through this.
Incorrect ghostrider

No. YOU are incorrect. According to the RCP average, McConnell has a THIRTY-ONE POINT lead over Bevin.

Though, I suppose one could choose to believe his explanation for signing the financial statement putting him on record.By not refusing to sign those letters Bevin missed an opportunity to demonstrate his adherence to high principles.
Link to a recent poll?
They are now tied with Bevin beating the dem.
Dear Sink,Senator Mitch McConnell is 72 years old.he.needs.to.retire

~LOL~ SINK was FOR TARP.......... pot meet kettle and all that.
Actually he doesn't lead by 31 points...... and Bevin has gained 20 points on McConnell since late in 2013

You still did not provide a link. AGAIN... The only recent poll I found had them tied and Bevin beating the democrat.
Why won't the man retire?

Why won't the man retire?
Why don't you go up a couple of posts on THIS THREAD and read that McConnell leads Bevin 53-31 in a recent Human Events poll.
Bevin is losing and has always been losing to McConnell. Why should McConnell quit when he beats his only primary challenger who now has his butt in a wringer over being in favor of TARP before he opposed TARP?
Ah, you left out one important fact:I thought you were one of the people who insisted that we needed to win the chamber. So why do you continue to endorse the weaker candidate?

Democrats believe Lundergan Grimes has a strong shot at taking down the longtime senator, who has seen his approval ratings plummet. A recent poll of the race showed him as unpopular as President Obama in the Bluegrass State.

McConnell will beat Grimes handily by the time November rolls around. Have you ever heard this broad give a speech? She'll crumble in a debate with McConnell.
As long as old people keep returning old people to office in the GOP the party is going to die a slow death. These old farts are obviously intimidated by new blood, but more these old farts do not attract the millenials to the party and that is what is going to kill the party... not the tea party, but the old party who are nothing but what is commonly called Country Club Republicans. Most of us know these men do not care one whit about any of us voters no matter if we are tea party of not, they only care about maintaining their power and keeping as many people sucked into voting for them as possible so they can maintain their little utopia in DC.I feel "old farts" is a more derogatory term, than broads.
And with McConnell gone it'll open up a leadership position. And Lord knows we need a new breed of senate leader. (Hopefully, a Majority Leader.)
I feel "old farts" is a more derogatory term, than broads.

You would....Yes, I did. I called out the hypocrisy and inconsistency.

You are not a reasonable poster, you make people walk on eggshells in discussion with your higher than mighty petard you put yourself on. Shall I go through your post history and see if you have ever used a derogatory word or said the eff word? No one likes the grammar police either, shall I get English teacher to peruse your posts. Grasp some humor bud, because I am going to post freely and if you don't like it you can lump it.Go ahead and do whatever you like. If you don't want grief from me, don't give me grief.

While I think it admirable to try and primary McConnell, "Retire Mitch" is basically negative campaigning, and does nothing to tell people why they should vote for Bevins over McConnell.
I think the signs will backfire, and would probably be more appropriate in the general election with the Dem using that mode of attack.
I feel the same way..I don't like the way this is going and feel that the Dem has a good chance of winning in the general...I would rather keep Mitch than have a Dem in his seat.

Republican Party has gotten stale. Its leadership old and out of touch. Thank McConnell for his service but, put him out to pasture. We need a new generation of young firebrands in the Senate, ones that sense the urgency of our plight. America is transforming before our eyes yet the old guard sees nothing of it. Rather, their answer is to let them manage the change to statism not the Democrats..The fact remains that McConnell is going to walk up to Bevin and slap the taste right out of his mouth during the primary. and there are only two things that Bevin can do about it...
