Calls from conservative circles are mounting for American Pie actor Jason Biggs to lose his gig as the voice of Leonardo in Nickelodeon’s reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the wake of sexually suggestive tweets he made about Ann Romney and Janna Ryan.
Biggs tweeted Wednesday night that people were cheering because “Janna Ryan is showing her t*ts.”
Not to be outdone, the actor saved the worst for Ann Romney, for whom he tweeted: “How dare you ignore Ann Romney’s a**hole … I bet hers is unbleached and hairy.”
His misogynistic tweets are the latest in a series of crude Twitter attacks on Republicans by Hollywood celebrities. It would seem that calls by those on the left for civility exclude attacks from liberals against Republicans, and the feminist National Organization for Women has been silent about the comments.
National Review Online Editor-at-large Jonah Goldberg responded to Biggs’ vulgarity, suggesting that he deserves to be fired more than the Yahoo! News’s former bureau chief David Chalian, who was caught on audio by ABC News saying Romney was happy to have a party while black people are drowning.
But Biggs refused to apologize on Thursday, continuing his bigoted remarks and vulgarities, slamming Christians following Clint Eastwood’s monologue with an invisible Barack Obama.
“Clint Eastwood talking to a non-responsive stool sorta sums up Christianity in a nutshell, huh Republicans?” Biggs tweeted.
His tweets raise the question of the appropriateness of having someone like Biggs as a role model for children, as conservative activist Phil Kerpen pointed out in a tweet: “[He] has no place on a children’s channel. We’ll stick to Sprout.”
Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin jumped further into the fray on Saturday, calling for a boycott of the advertisers of Biggs’ program, while denouncing his having had deleted the incriminating tweets.
Biggs responded to the criticism Friday, tweeting: “To everyone freaking out about my tweets: you know i put my **** in a pie, right?”
