Hope things go well for Chewy.

Nah... that ain't going to happen... I expect I will be putting him in the ground in the next year or two. He will go blind in that eye, and he is old enough now that there ain't much for it. He's getting deaf too, and it is just a matter of course as he eases into the end of things. Sad but true. I have no illusions about that. So long as it don't bring him pain, I will leave him be and not put him through it.

But, I am glad that Midnight seems to have met with some success. I hope that continues.  :beer:

I didn't understand that he was so far along in years. That's that period of time that we pet owners dread, but for the joy they bring us in their all-to-short years, we agree to accept. I'm sorry, friend. I truly am. He's still here; I'm sure you'll make the most of it for the both of you.

Midnight will be 14 in October, and I will have had him for 2 years when his birthday rolls around. The best part of dinky dogs is that you generally get to have them around a few years longer. Well, that and you can get more of them in your lap at one time. After this inve$tment I've made to address his eye problems, I had better get my money's worth out of him! He understands this and will do his very best to accommodate me.  :yowsa:

@corbe

Raccoons are VERY smart and make great pets. I had one when I was maybe 8 years old. I had two big problems with him. Number one was he was a thief, and a VERY good thief. I have seen him steal individual cigarettes out of one of my uncle's shirt pockets as he sat in a chair talking to us. He didn't know we had a racoon, and this was a fully-grown male coon by this time,so nobody wanted to scare him. The coon just crawled up the back of the chair and reached over his shoulder and picked them out of the pack one by one.

Other than possibly giving my uncle a stroke, his stealing was no big deal. We knew where he hid his treasures, and if anything important was missing,we would just go get it.

My bleep father decided he shouldn't be living in the house with us and sleeping with me anymore when he was a couple of years old,and built a cage attached to the rear wall of our house. And,of course, the neighborhood dogs came back and drove him nuts trying to attack him. He finely broke out of the cage and blinded one of the dogs and did some damage to another one.

Which of course resulted in animal control coming around and threatening to arrest my father for having an animal that was illegal to have,so he drove out to the swamp where we found him when he was a baby with a mother who had been ran over, and let him out to run free.

Later in life after we returned to the country,he was trapping and killing coons for their hides, and the market dropped,so he just opened the cages and let them loose. Took some of them over a month to start going away even though he had quit feeding them.

I was pleaded to take in an adult raccoon from a good friend's neighbor. He had owned it from a kit but had let it have the run of the city neighborhood. He knew that neighbors would kill it one day for raiding their garbage cans. He'd been warned more than once. I had a 4 ft cubed cage and he was totally irate whenever I put him in it. To get him out of the cage, I'd put on both a pair of leather gloves and over them welding gloves. He would chomp down on my hand, I'd nestle him in my arms while he still chomped down on my hand. I could feel his teeth thru both gloves. I'd toss him into my room, our garage converted into a game room. For quite a while he would circle the room growling. After awhile he would come to me and would be the most playful pet I've ever had. But if I came to him, I'd never know what kind of mood he was in.

I had a good friend who had 2 raccoons growing up, until the neighbors shot both of them. He always wanted us to take the raccoon with us in the car when we went cruising. It sure freaked out a hitchhiker we picked up. One Friday nite he talked me into take the raccoon into a record store, he knew the owner, and said it'd be OK. Like a fool, I took him into the store chocked full of customers. He was going back and forth on my shoulders. He then got on top of my head. He started to climb down my chest , so I brought my arms up to catch him. With no warning he bit me in the throat. I grabbed a handful of his fur in the middle of his back and yanked him off my throat. I knew there was no way I could let him get loose inside the store full of people. So I held him out as far from me as I could as he spun around and around attacking my arm and chest. I got him back into the car and got in with him. He growled for a good while before he settled down.   A week or so after that I gave him his freedom.

My daughter has mentioned that costumed purse-sized dogs being walked are pretty common in her city in China. That's aside from the often necessary sweaters necessary for winter weather.

"I caught him. Now what?!"

Ok. This has been bothering me for years. How come cats have canine teeth? Couldn’t they call them “feline” teeth when they’re in a cat?

Cats rule and dogs drool.

Seriously, both are awesome. They bring blessings to your life and become your best friend.

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
