The indoor track championships in Virginia were marred by a brazen attack by one runner when she used the baton in her relay race as a weapon against an opponent.

The attack took place during the 4x200m relay event of the VSHL Class 3 State Indoor Championships held on the campus of Liberty University in Lynchburg.

Kaelen Tucker was running the second leg of the relay for Lynchburg's Brookville High School when she went to make a pass around another runner in a battle for second place.

Rather than fight fair, her opponent in that battle - who attended IC Norcom High School in the Hampton Roads area of the state - decided to take more aggressive action.

The Norcom runner wound her right arm back and smacked the baton she was carrying across Tucker's head as seen on video of the incident.

Gasps were heard inside the Liberty Indoor Track Complex as Tucker slowed down, stumbled, and then fell to the ground on the interior of the course.

I don't know for sure but I think the attacker and the victim were both Black.
Black people generally do not call the Police, or file charges on other Blacks.

The attacker should be banned from all future events, but I doubt that will happen.

Her team should have been DQed and she should be banned from all future HS sports. And the girl she smacked with a metal baton should file a police report.

The track star seen hitting her opponent in the head with a baton in a shocking incident has remarkably claimed it was an accident.

The indoor track championships in Virginia were marred when Alaila Everett was seen striking Kaelen Tucker during the 4x200m relay event of the VSHL Class 3 State Indoor Championships.

Tucker was running the second leg of the relay for Lynchburg's Brookville High School when she passed Tucker of I.C. Norcom High School on the outside.

Everett, who claimed she has since been on the receiving end of death threats and racial slurs, broke down in tears as she gave her version of events on the viral incident.

She told Wavy.com: 'Nobody is going to believe me because I can admit from the video it does look purposeful. But I know my intentions and I would never hit anybody on purpose.'

She added: 'After a couple times of hitting her, my baton got stuck behind her back like this, and it rolled up her back. I lost my balance and, when I pumped my arms again, she got hit.'
