A number of fans gathered outside American Airlines Arena in Dallas on Sunday to protest the team’s decision to trade Luka Doncic, who had been the face of the franchise, to the Lakers...

Some chanted “sell the team” and others held up a variety of signs, with messages that read “I’m sick,” “worst trade in NBA history,” and a number directed at general manager Nico Harrison, including “f–k Nico,” “fire Nico” and “Nico is corrupt.”

Fans also brought a blue casket in order to hold a fake funeral for the Mavericks while playing Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” in the background.

At one point, security had to power wash a profane message directed at Harrison that was written on the concrete, according to the Dallas Morning News...

Sorry, but Is anyone's life going to be affected?  Yeah no.  Who GAF.

Well at least Jerry Jones is no longer the worst owner in Dallas.

Same here.  I lost interest in that joke of sport in the '80's.  It's now just a glorified playground endeavor.

OTOH, I think we both can get a sense of enjoyment at any suffering of Mark Cuban.

Dončić is only 25.  He hasn't even hit his prime yet.  Worst trade since the Cubs traded Ernie Broglio for Lou Brock.

Been my opinion for decades that the NBA is the most corrupt major sport on the planet.  The fact in the past teams were blowing games for draft pick order is just one of a number of shady things that is ubiquitous with the sport.    And the fact that the "marquee franchise" Lakers has allowed another superstar tandem (Doncic-James) , is just another almost laughable ploy a prop for sagging ratings.

The advent and worship of Dennis Rodman and the thug life in the 1990s did it for me.  I like to watch the NBA in the 1980s when Dr. J, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Robert Parrish, Isaiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins, etc. played and brought some class and sportsmanship to the game.  But Rodman and the succeeding tattoo'd up thugs who came afterward made it unwatchable.

Dallas certainly got the short end of this one. Davis is meh. In LA, will LeBron ever give Luka the ball?

How something as simple as not enforcing the travelling rule?

Every nite you see some "NBA superstar" take 5, 6, 7 steps up to the basket without dribbling. And we're constantly told this is an example of his "athletic greatness", lol!

How seriously would people take football or baseball if they deliberately ignored one of their sports' major rules??  No wonder the NBA is tanking!!

Agreed, Canuck. I played HS basketball, and a little college bball, and "no traveling" was drilled into us. The NBA doesn't even resemble basketball.

LOL!  Still...better to watch a drive to the basket than watching them shoot "3's" all the time.

Everyone wants to be the next Steph Curry!

I'm not so sure Cuban is suffering. He's a minority owner now with little control over the team. I read an article that said he was in the dark about the trade.

I don't follow the Mavs to closely since Dirk retired...but imho this was a bone head move.

Interesting @Hoodat . If his lack of training/attitude had a part of it, all I will say is that is hypocritical. There have been many players in the past that were prima donnas. And didn't have his creds.  But they weren't shipped off.  The LA Lakers part of this? I don't follow enough to really "get it".

So Doncic already has a "living large" reputation ... washing down Twinkies with a beer, having a cigarette at halftime ...

And now you're sending him to LA? With all those celebrity parties full of drugs??

What could possibly go wrong ?!

Yep.  Looks like the Mavs made a smart trade after all, no matter what the locals think.  The guy was obviously a prima donna and out of shape badly, and not playing very well.  So good riddance!

So, the Babe Ruth of the NBA? The alleged beer and Twinkies don't seem to adversely affect Luke's performance.

Actually, it does, according to one local sports reporter in the above video who noted that unpleasant fact and was soundly thrashed for it.

Luka has been called doughy his entire career. I wonder if anyone said that about Shaq, Barkley or Zion "More Donuts Here!" Williamson.

Well apparently, he started at 240 pounds and is now at 270 pounds, so he's lugging around an extra 30 pounds and it's showing.

The issue is lack of discipline. Most serious athletes treat their body very carefully, since it's what's making them money.

You never saw Michael Jordan or Kobe smoking a cigarette during a game.

Mavericks would have had to pay Doncic $350 million ... too many warning signs were there already for that kind of deal.
