Texas has the most cities on Opendoor’s top 10 list — with six in the top 10. Boniakowski says this is a sign that job growth was also a major factor for buyers looking into these particular ZIP codes.

Katy, Texas is the most popular ZIP code in America for homebuyers

ZIP code 77493 or Katy, Texas, ranked as the No. 1 most popular ZIP code for homebuyers. Katy is a western suburb of Houston.

Cypress, Texas — ZIP code 77433 — is the number two most popular for homebuyers. Just like Katy, Cypress is not too far from Houston.

The 10 most popular U.S ZIP codes for homebuyers

Interesting. Does this mean Florida has reached capacity? I thought everyone was moving there, NC or Tennessee.

This year’s most popular areas are known for being fast-growing cities with plenty of new development, with healthy job growth in Florida and Texas in particular. If you’re looking to start over in 2025, use our top 20 list as your moving companion guide:

FL saw a tremendous boom during the pandemic.  Then the hurricane hit and insurance soared and so we started to see a significant amount of people leave. This year we got quite a bit of storm activity and people are just getting what they can for their homes/property and just leaving. With the storms,  I can only imagine what our new insurance rates are going to be especially with insurance companies leaving the state as well.   People are still moving here, but there are a lot of investors causing prices to rise and with high insurance rates already, the housing market is very unstable.

The cost of living in NC and TN is cheaper than FL.  We'll see what happens as a result of this year's storms, primarily, Helene and Milton.

The insurance industry is once again in for a roller-coaster ride and with FEMA being so negligent and inept it's going to take quite a few years for some sort of recovery in the hardest hit areas.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
All this assumes I'd want to move to a city. Nope.  **nononono*

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Heard on the news last night that WV is a good retirement destination. Low cost of living, affordable housing, beautiful scenery and great neighbors!
