High winds are causing massive fires to break out in Los Angeles.

LIVE COVERAGE ON KABC

https://abc7.com/post/brush-fire-erupts-pacific-palisades-threatens-structures-amid-powerful-windstorm/15772178/

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. (KABC) -- A 200-acre brush fire erupted Tuesday morning in Pacific Palisades, threatening structures and prompting an evacuation order as a powerful windstorm battered the region.

The quick-moving fire was reported shortly before 10:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Piedra Morada Drive, just north of the Palisades Hills Recreation Center, sending a massive plume of smoke rose above the Santa Monica Mountains.

"The Palisades Fire is burning near Palisades Drive," the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a statement from NotifyLA alert system. "Those nearby should get set for a potential wildfire evacuation by gathering supplies and loved ones."

A massive contingent of Los Angeles city and county firefighting resources were deployed to the scene, including helicopters and Super Scoopers.

In a statement released at 11:13 a.m., Pepperdine University noted that fire officials predicted the fire had the potential to spread to as many as 200 acres "in the next 20 minutes as the winds push it from the northeast toward the Pacific Ocean. The fire is not presently a threat to the Malibu campus, though smoke from the fire is visible from campus."

People fleeing the fire are abandoning their cars on the roadways, making it impossible for fire trucks to get through.

The people there are wealthy, not smart. They're also quite obnoxious.
There's a Boy Scout camp (Camp Josepho) just NE of the fire boundary, miles from any residence. The locals would complain incessantly about us and limited when we could access the camp. They even had a gate installed that wouldn't open during the "off" hours to prevent anything but emergency access. They'd wander on the single lane fire road, not letting us pass, all kinds of BS. I'm finding it hard to generate any sympathy for those types.
It looks like the camp is safe for now. The lodge built back in the 30's has survived 2 fires. Real 2x4 type wood construction, none of that "short" lumber.
Even though I'm out of BSA, it'd be a shame to lose that piece of history.
Throwing our allegiances to political parties in the long run gave away our liberty.

We cleared and built pathways on our hillside with sprinkler systems that can be remotely managed. We also did brush clearance per local fire prevention mandates. I’m hoping it has done some good. It’s hard to beat the winds this time of year though, if someone is careless.

We renovated a home after COVID and just finished last month. To all the lovely people offering care and love, I’ll say this.

There is no possession as priceless as friends and good neighbors during a tragedy. I can’t believe the blessings we enjoy, and I am humbly grateful.

The winds are certainly wreaking havoc.  Such a contrast with the Arctic wind gusts of 100 mph.
Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.   Romans 12:16-18

Refilling the water reservoirs would have been a welcome priority, too, but I guess she had too much on her plate promoting diversity.

🔥 Why Does California Have So Many Wildfires? Here’s the Truth You’re Not Being Told. 🔥

Every year, it’s the same story. California burns, and fingers are pointed in every direction, climate, drought, winds. But let’s stop dancing around the real issue: forest management (or lack thereof).

California isn’t unique in its forests. In fact, there are countries with denser, larger, and even more flammable forest ecosystems that somehow manage to avoid this level of devastation. Take countries like Finland, Sweden, or Canada, places with massive forests, harsh winters, and dry summers. Yet, wildfires on the scale of California’s are practically unheard of. Why?

Two words: forest management.

For decades, California’s approach has been one of neglect. Overgrown brush, dead trees, and poor preventative measures are essentially tinder waiting for a spark. Add to that bureaucratic red tape that makes proper clearing and controlled burns almost impossible, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.

Here’s the kicker (pun intended): controlled burns and thinning aren’t a new concept. Native American tribes practiced it for centuries. It worked. They understood the balance of nature better than the modern regulations that claim to “protect” these lands.

There is a pyromaniac out there.
Someone posted a video yesterday of a homeless person starting a fire alongside an L.A. road, which may or may not be related to the fires that followed.

Think the fires are bad?

Wait until the people who lost everything find out FEMA ran out of money because they literally gave it to illegals.

There does not seem to be any water available to the L.A. firefighters, also.

Los Angeles recently appointed its very 1st female, LGBTQ+ fire chief with the goal of recruiting more women & gay firefighters

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass Cut Fire Budget by Nearly $20 Million

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D), who was on a trip to Ghana when fire engulfed large portions of the city, cut nearly $20 million from the city’s budget for fire services for the current fiscal year — and proposed even more cuts.

Democrat L.A. Mayor Karen Bass in Africa as Her City Burns

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass spent Tuesday in Africa as part of a taxpayer-funded delegation attending the inauguration of John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s president. The Democrat was there as her city battled wildfires and thousands of residents fled for their lives.
