...hmm....well, personally, I'm not so sure, however, for this country in general I am more optimistic.
Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.   Romans 12:16-18

For a guy that has long looked at the glass as 'half full', I am not optimistic about 2025 at all.  The current crop of big spending liberals we just elected has me in the category of SSDD.

I don’t know how to answer that except to say, compared to recent years I am more hopeful. Is that the same as optimistic?  Maybe.

I've taken to quoting St. Gregory of Tours:  "A great many things are happening, some of them are good, some of them are bad."

I expect, as to told my wife at the beginning of the first Trump administration:  four years of random governance.  Trump will do many things ranging from brilliant to horrible, and we can't even say in which domains the brilliant ones and the horrible ones will be.  His main virtue is that unlike whoever would have really been running the country under a Harris administration, he will not be resolutely leading the country in the wrong direction.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

The big spending liberals are mostly Republicans.  **nononono*

I don't know what's going to come our way, but I'm trying as much as possible to be ready for the worst.

Yep. Unfortunately after big bouts of inflation usually comes rough recessions or depressions. I'm not sure Trump or the Fed can stop that. I mostly voted for Trump so that if at least we have to ride it down, he v. that psycho commie nutcase is in charge. Trump at least has an appreciation for freedom.

Very well said! and my feelings exactly.

A year goes by in the blink of an eye in some ways, yet slowly in others. So I don't want to predict optimism/pessimism
or the entire time.

I tend to be a little in the dumps about society. But even that can change.

@berdie  IMHO, As I get older Time goes quicker. I suppose weariness weights on my Soul.
I can still remember being in the 4th grade when Time seemed to drag on forever and ever.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
