George Stephanopoulos and ABC apologize to Trump, are forced to pay $15 million to settle defamation suit

ABC News and their top anchor George Stephanopoulos have reached a settlement with Donald Trump in his defamation suit, which will result in the news network paying the president-elect $15 million.

The settlement was publicly filed on Saturday, revealing that the two parties have come to an agreement and avoided a costly trial. According to the settlement, ABC News will pay $15 million as a charitable contribution to a "Presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for Plaintiff, as Presidents of the United States of America have established in the past." Additionally, the network will pay $1 million in Trump's attorney fees.

ABC got off easy.  I'd hope for something more substantial and meaningful like closing their News Dept.  (/s).  :cool:

I like the idea that Cruz suggested on Twitter.....   Use that $15M to buy back the fence that Pedo Joe put up for auction pennies on the dollar.

The judge should have awarded punitive damages of 10 times the $16 million.
Complicit media have been lying like this for decades.  This won't stop them.

ABC/Steph will pay $15M to Trump's Presidential Library fund, separately $1M for Trump's legal fees and issue an apology from the ABC Corporation and separately from Georgie.

ABC News and network host George Stephanopoulos have reached a with President-elect Donald Trump to settle his defamation lawsuit against them. The network has agreed to pay $15 million and will issue a formal apology over inaccurate reporting.

According to the settlement, which was filed publicly on Saturday, ABC News will pay $15 million as a charitable contribution to a “presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for the Plaintiff.”

The network has also been ordered to pay an additional $1 million to cover the president-elect’s legal fees.

Trump filed the lawsuit in Florida federal court earlier this year, arguing that Stephanopoulos and the network defamed him during a contentious interview with U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC). Over the course of the March interview, the anchor repeated the false claim that a jury found Trump guilty of “rape” in the E. Jean Carroll case.

Hans Mahnke reports: Here’s the truth about the settlement: Acting on directions from Clinton operatives, ABC "News" used false pretenses to secure an interview with an innocent American, @SergeiMillian, who, as a real estate broker in 2007, had sold Trump apartments in Florida.

Although the interview never aired, ABC, through George Stephanopoulos, ensured that the Clinton campaign received clips that they could use in anti-Trump advertisements—which is precisely what Clinton did.

The reason ABC paid Trump $15 million was to prevent Stephanopoulos from having to testify under oath about ABC's collusion with the Clinton campaign during the deposition which had just been mandated by the court. ...

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos is “apoplectic” and “humiliated” by the network’s decision to pay $16 million to settle a defamation lawsuit brought by President-elect Donald Trump, The Post has learned.

Stephanopoulos, who claimed Trump had raped E. Jean Carroll during an interview with Republican lawmaker Nancy Mace, was particularly upset about being forced to apologize, a source with knowledge of the situation said.

Another source told The Post that “George is defiant.”

A third source said Stephanopoulos “is a very guarded person. His circle of trust is so small, and a lot of them don’t work [at ABC anymore].“

The first insider added that the host of “This Week” had recently signed a contract extension with Disney-owned ABC News — though the source did not disclose the terms of the deal.
