Since the average government employee makes 2X what private sector makes, just slash their pay by half.

I'd go along with that,  but was thinking that a 50% pay haircut might accomplish something similar.

Cutting their pay is not sufficient because there are other compenstation expenses such as health insurance, 401k matching, etc.

The positions need to be eliminated to get all employee compensation expenses off the books.
