The number of people killed in extreme flash floods in Spain has now reached at least 63, after extreme rainfall swept away whole streets of cars.

Most of the confirmed deaths so far have been in Valencia. An 88-year-old woman was also found dead further inland in the city of Cuenca.

The dramatic death toll from one of the country’s worst-ever natural disasters was expected to rise as the search continued for dozens of people still unaccounted for.

Multiple corpses were recovered overnight while a search is still ongoing for survivors, while footage showed Valencia’s airport runway covered in water.

One part of Valencia, Chiva, recorded a year’s worth of rain in just eight hours, with 491mm of rain according to the Spanish Weather Service.

‘Yesterday was the worst day of my life,’ Ricardo Gabaldon, mayor of the town of Utiel told national broadcaster RTVE.

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

Roughly 18" of rain in eight hours. That's a lot.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Several years ago, in the aftermath of a hurricane, we got about 9" of rain in 8 hours, and it was devastating to our area.  I can't imagine twice that.
