I have no belief that Iran would honor such an agreement.  They have not in the past.

The Israelis should have gone right for Iran's "nuclear heart", and taken it out.
Their failure to do so is going to cost them in the future.

Of course, I realize that such a "nuclear heart" is very-well-protected, probably in deep underground sites that are impervious to conventional bombs.
We all know what would be required to destroy them.
So be it.

But therein lies the problem.
The Israelis can't do this.

Call it their "Jewish guilt", combined with the aura of moral superiority they've asserted for themselves after World War II.

Use nukes on Iran, and that aura vanishes ... just like that.

I don't think "Jewish Guilt" is the tempering factor here.
Yes, the 'aura' of righteousness would vanish, unless they are used in retaliation.

Then the world might wring hands and piss and moan, but they'd grudgingly admit it was justified to eliminate any further threat.

That has been the essence of the Cold War mindset.
He who does the first strike is the bad guy.

In the meantime, the point has been made, an eye for an eye and all that.

Unless I hear otherwise, I am not impressed.  They did nothing to adversely affect Iran's cashflow, funding the massive attacks upon their lands by the Iranian surrogates.  They did not strike any facility working on nuclear weapons, nuclear fuel.
It will be business as usual for Iran.  This attack will not be so much as a pin pr*ck from what I can see.

We do not know what Israel attacked and or damaged in Iran. If Israel attacked and damaged what are called "significant targets" in Iran, Israel will never reveal what they did, and Iran will never admit that Israel was successful has the power to destroy them.

Israel could have easily used EMP weapons which can destroy entire targets with no flames and no satellite confirmation.

There is much more to this combined military operation, including covert operations, than we will ever know. Israel is not stupid. 'Whatever' they did we can be sure that it was a demonstration to the theocratic mullahs there that Israel is capable of destroying them with a moment notice.

Reports are that somewhere between one-third and one-half of the IAF took to the skies on Friday night — a remarkable feat in itself if you know anything about what it takes to ready and arm a sophisticated warplane — and every single one of them returned home safely.

An open-source intelligence writer who uses the handle Raylan Givens — I've followed and trusted him for a couple of years now — gave the rundown on the operation, "courtesy of IDF Radio and with the approval of the military censor."

"The attack destroyed ALL of Iran's long-range surface-to-air missile batteries," according to Givens' translation of the IDF Radio report. "All long-range detection radars were also destroyed. Iran is left with only short-range batteries of local Iranian models."

Again bowing to Western pressure, Israel left Iran's oil and nuclear facilities intact, but the IAF brutalized Iran's missile production sites. While "Iran possesses more than 2,000 long-range ballistic missiles," by most estimates, "the production of new missiles was crippled. From now on, Iran will operate with a finite supply because the stockpile it has will not be able to grow for months or years."

Ukraine has long demonstrated that Russia's vaunted S-300 and S-400 SAM systems, which Iran uses, are fairly porous against 4th generation aircraft (e.g. MiG-29 or F-15). At least some of the aircraft Israel used were F-35s, so the Iranian operators of the S-300 and S-400 batteries probably learned the Israeli aircraft were there from explosions of the bombs the planes dropped. So now Iran has lost all or almost all of its long-range SAM systems, and, as Ukraine has also demonstrated, Russian medium- and short-range systems are not fantastic, either.
