Tropical Storm Debby closing in on Florida; hurricane warnings issued
Gefn:
Tropical Storm Debby was strengthening early Sunday as the fourth-named system of the season churned closer to the Florida Gulf Coast where it was expected to make landfall Monday as a hurricane.
Debby, fueled by warm waters of the Gulf, was moving northward and will turn to the north later Sunday, the National Hurricane Center said. At 8 a.m. ET Sunday the storm was centered about 155 mile southwest of Tampa.
The storm will bring powerful storm surge and flooding rains when it strikes Florida's Big Bend Coast, the hurricane center said. Debby is then expected to move slowly across northern Florida and southern Georgia Monday and Tuesday.
"This is a life-threatening situation," the hurricane center warned. The storm was likely to make landfall as a Category 1 hurricane, forecasters said.

Delta has issued another embargo on minors flying alone, on account of the storm. We are trying to get my nephew home from Europe. They told us nothing until he arrived at the security line. What a stupid company. The storm is not close to Atlanta or any of their hubs.

From what I am hearing and seeing on the local weather is the storm/hurricane is not going to come close to the Atlanta area, so, I'm not sure why. ????
Hopefully you're nephew will be home to you safely soon.

It’s just Delta - they are about to melt down again. If anyone has a flight with them in the next week, now may be a good time to rebook.

Quick update...
NHC predicting a Cat 1 hitting the FL coastal bend. Looking at the Vis, Water, and IR loops, this storm sure seems less organized than the NHC is saying at 50mph sustained. OTOH, sometimes these rough storms through their can have bursts of convection in individual storms that might exceed expected.
Still, with the bathwater in the NE Gulf, plus minimal shear, I can easily see a Cat 1 landfall.
