SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Police Department (SPD) made arrests Wednesday night after multiple teenagers were reported vandalizing the newly painted Pride crosswalk mural in front of Riverfront Park.

The mural was re-painted to repair previous damage sustained after someone lit the crosswalk mural on fire in May.  .  .

.  .  On Wednesday, SPD said they received a 911 call reporting multiple people on scooters causing damage to the mural.

According to court documents obtained by KREM 2, many witnesses sitting at the bar at O'Doherty's Irish Grille saw around four people on Lime Scooters riding over the Pride flag mural.

Kaylee Gaines McGee was one of those people at O'Doherty's who saw the group of teenagers using lime scooters to create skid marks on the mural.  .  .

Lime enacts 'no go zone' around Pride crosswalk in Washington after vandalism

SPOKANE, Wash. (TND) — Lime, a transportation company which rents electric scooters and bikes to pedestrians, is implementing a “no go zone” around a crosswalk painted with a large Progress Pride flag mural in Spokane, Wash., the company told The National Desk (TND) Friday.

Police in Spokane recently announced the arrests of four suspects accused of defacing the mural. Officers said they received a call Wednesday of suspects on scooters damaging the mural. When they arrived at the scene, officers say they were able to witness the vandalism first-hand.

The Pride mural had “widespread damage” according to police, including “black scuff marks consistent with scooter wheels."  .  .  .

.  .  .  In response to the incident, Lime implemented a “no go zone” over the crosswalk. Lime vehicles “aren’t authorized to travel in no go zones,” which it marks with red shading on its app. Entering a "no go zone" will cause a Lime vehicle to “gradually come to a stop,” according to its website, forcing a rider to walk their scooter until it is outside the zone.  .  .

Here's an idea: paint your damn "murals" on walls, not on public streets (you know, the places where cars, trucks, bicycles and motorcycles typically operate).
