Europe swings to the right — led by France
Center-right and far-right parties are leading the way in the EU election.

Europe’s center of political gravity is veering to the right.

Center-right and far-right parties are set to take the largest number of seats in Sunday’s European Union election in the most populous nations: Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Poland.

France led the rightward lurch with such a crushing victory for the far-right National Rally that liberal President Emmanuel Macron dissolved France’s parliament and called an early election. Early results suggested the National Rally would win some 32 percent of the vote, more than twice that of the president’s party.  ...

The single most ominous warning signal for the future of the EU is France, given the scale of the far right’s win over Macron. All eyes will now be on whether France’s populist wave can maintain its momentum through the impending parliamentary elections and on to presidential elections in 2027 — where a victory for far-right leader Marine Le Pen would threaten to throw the whole EU into turmoil. ...

A right-wing tide washed over Europe as conservatives dominated EU elections in a shocking rebuke to the status quo. Marine Le Pen declared, "We are ready to take power," after the National Rally trounced President Macron’s party.

Many left-wing political parties in Europe are in shock after their poor performances at the European Parliament elections to right-wing parties.
French President Emmanuel Macron has dissolved parliament after his party came in 15 percentage points behind Marine Le Pen's National Rally. This is the highest support that Le Pen's party has ever received. France will have new elections at the end of June.
In Germany, the right-wing anti-migration party AfD is expected to come in second, and the governing Social Democrats are expected to place a humiliating third or fourth.
In Austria, the FPÖ, labeled a far-right party, came in first place.

Macron calls snap election after far-right triumph in EU vote
“We’re ready to exercise power,” Marine Le Pen declares.
June 9, 2024 9:15 pm CET
By Giorgio Leali, Nicolas Camut and Eddy Wax

PARIS — European elections are meant to be worthy but boring exercises in centrist coalition building. Not this time.

A surge in far-right populism in France provoked President Emmanuel Macron into calling a high-risk national election that could determine the future not only of his country but of the European Union itself.

Across the Continent it was a good if unspectacular night for center-right and far-right parties and a terrible one for liberals and especially greens.

But in France, the far-right National Rally, led by Euroskeptic and NATO-skeptic firebrands, completely crushed Macron’s liberal Renaissance and all other contenders.

The National Rally is on course to win 31.5 percent of the vote — more than twice the 14.7 percent projected for Macron’s liberal Renaissance party.

In a high-risk gamble to regain the political initiative, Macron bet that voters will turn back the far-right tide and show Marine Le Pen’s National Rally cannot win at a national level.  ...

Just days after he appeared with Joe Biden, Macron was crushed in French elections

This wasn’t a coincidence

BABYLON BEE:

Biden Asks Why Europe Didn't Just Arrest Conservative Candidates Before Election
Jun 10, 2024
BabylonBee.com

As shockwaves continued to reverberate around the globe following sweeping victories for the European political right, U.S. President Joe Biden asked aides why Europe didn't just arrest the conservative candidates before the election.

As conservative candidates in multiple countries won by significant margins, the current American leader expressed surprise that the ruling globalist regimes didn't simply have their chief political rivals imprisoned.

"Why didn't they do… the thing?" Biden was overheard asking White House aides after learning about the election results in Europe. "It's simple, folks. When you've got an election coming up, and it looks like you're… looks like you're… you're about to… you're gonna… it looks like… not good, all you have to do is throw the fella in prison. Or the broad. Whatever. Arresting your opponents and putting them in prison is the easiest way to win elections. It's also… it's… anyway. Cheesegrater." ...

What to Know About France’s Snap Parliamentary Elections

President Emmanuel Macron’s surprise call for new elections in France’s lower house of Parliament is seen as a gamble.

Aurelien Breeden  |  June 10, 2024  |  Updated 2:04 p.m. ET

President Emmanuel Macron threw French politics into disarray on Sunday when he unexpectedly called for snap elections.

The surprise move came after his party was battered by the far right in European Parliament elections. Mr. Macron dissolved the lower house of France’s Parliament and said the first round of legislative elections would be held on June 30.

France now finds itself in unpredictable territory, with the future of Mr. Macron’s second term potentially at stake. With less than a month to go before the poll, parties are now scrambling to field candidates, hone their messaging and, in some cases, forge alliances.

Here is what you need to know about the snap election.  .  .

Caveat:  This is from the left-wing US media.  Every single appearance of the word 'right' in this article is immediately proceeded by the word 'far'.  There is no such thing as simply 'the right'.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

The ‘Far Right’ Is Surging In Europe Because The Left’s Version Of ‘Democracy’ Has Failed
Democracy is not in danger; it’s the left’s version of ‘democracy’ that’s threatened as the right is beginning to flex its political muscles.

Due to mounting dissatisfaction with the political establishment throughout the European Union, right-wing parties have made significant gains in the recent European Parliament elections. Perhaps most surprisingly, this surge in seats won was fueled not only by traditional older conservatives but also by younger voters who have sought to rekindle the spirit of nationalism within their homelands.

Before the European Parliament elections, 32 percent of French 18-to-25-year-olds said they’d vote for the “far right” National Rally party, closely reflecting the eventual election outcome. Led by Marine Le Pen, “the National Rally party is on course to win 31.5 percent of the vote—more than twice the 14.7 percent projected for [French President Emmanuel] Macron’s liberal Renaissance party.” ...

This political earthquake felt in France and Germany is not an isolated incident within these two countries. Feelings of Euroscepticism and discontent over immigration are rising all across Europe.

While a “centrist” (meaning leftist) pro-EU majority remains in firm control of the European Parliament, members of the Western ruling class are quickly realizing that the backlash against the globalist agenda, put into motion shortly after World War II, is escaping leftist containment and steadily growing.

This should surprise no one. We saw the first strong signs of this immune response to globalism in 2016 when Britain voted to leave the European Union. Yet ruling class members on both the left and right within the United Kingdom did not heed the message their voters sent as immigration surged. ...

If things don't change, France, Great Britain and several other western European countries (but not Poland) will be 75% Muslim within the next decade. I will try to find the graphic someone did on that topic.

I'm pretty sure Hungary has very high standards as to who may enter their country and a strongly guarded border...at least for now, we'll see if Orban wins his election(can't find results) or if the communists are returned and kiss the EU's @$$.

MASSIVE

Exit polls predict Marine Le Pen's right-wing party will get between 260 to 310 seats. They need 289 to get an absolute majority.
