I never saw a downward trend before the weekend but I filled up yesterday and gas was 20¢ less than a week before...some ones playing some serious games because gas was high two weeks before Memorial day weekend so it wasn't just because of the holiday.
Earlier this year, gasoline prices here went UP from $2.79 9/10 a gallon (87 octane regular) and are now sitting around $3.59 9/10. A two cent per gallon drop isn't much, and not enough to crow about. I can get a discount that big buying a bag of chips at a nearby grocery store that has gas islands, too--and I have the chips.
I recently drove to the East coast and back (about 4400 miles). Fuel Prices ranged from $3.09 9/10 north of Kansas City MO, to $3.79 9/10 in MD for 87 octane regular. Had I been able to knock off .02 from every gallon I bought (about 300 gallons, total) I would have saved a whole six dollars. On the east coast, that will barely buy a cup of coffee.
