Nonsense.  Whether it's food or music, you can make incredible creations, flavors and textures using a few chords/ingredients.

In 200 years, nobody will remember Quincy Jones.  The Beatles will live on forever.

Everybody wants their 15 minutes. If I had any notoriety at all, and proclaimed that The Eagles are the worst band in 100 years, it would be picked up and broadcast worldwide even though it is nonsense. When you want press coverage, just say the stupidest thing you can think of and the press will cover it and do the rest for you.

Quincy is very talented, no doubt. However, the Beatles changed music. Quincy didn't do that as good as he was. The Beatles were both good musicians and also great writers. Sounds to me like he's got a little of the "Green Disease".

They weren't the worst musicians. They were by far not the best either. They were solid and maybe slightly above average.

But they could craft some of the most creative and mind blowing songs ever laid to vinyl that moved rock-n-roll in a whole different direction.

I think Quincy is pining for some attention.  He's been spotlightless for some time now.  So he makes an outlandish statement for attention.

Sorry to have to go here, but I might be saying what others are thinking...

Did Quincy reveal a bit of reverse racism in his assessment of the Fab 4? Honestly, I have no dog in this fight. In truth, I'm more prone to enjoy Quincy's genre of music than that of the Beatles, but I certainly recognize their talent and contribution to the world of music. Quincy seemed to feel comfortable in making his assessment which would assume that he travels in circles where his POV is a given. Am I reading too much into this?  :shrug:

I understand what he's saying...the answer is "SO WHAT?"

Just because none of the Beatles could shred like Stevie Ray Vaughn or Jimi Hendrix doesn't mean they didn't make incomparable pieces of music.

Have posted a few YouTube videos regarding the masterpiece "BECAUSE".  It's timeless and takes it chords from Beethoven...when John was listening to Yoko...a classically trained pianist...The Moonlight Sonata.
