 House Republicans read Mayorkas impeachment articles on Senate floor: Watch live

House Republican impeachment managers are set to send the Senate articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday after Senate conservatives successfully lobbied Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to delay the delivery of the charges.

The transfer of the articles will officially force the Senate to take up the matter of impeachment against Mayorkas, which has been pending since the House approved the punishment in a 214-213 vote in February. Senators are expected to be sworn in as jurors Wednesday, with Senate President Pro Tempore Patty Murray (D-Wash.) presiding over the chamber.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), however, is still expected to quickly move to table or dismiss the articles.

House Republicans are expected to read the articles at 2 p.m. EDT.

Ted is absolutely awesome in getting the point across. The statistics that he lays out are staggering and hopefully will hit home to those watching.

I pray for once, that the liberals are held accountable.

Schumer: For the sake of the Senate's integrity and to protect impeachment for those rare cases, we truly need it. Senators should dismiss today's charges. So we. So when we convene in trial today to accommodate the wishes of our Republican Senate colleagues, I will seek an agreement for a period of debate time that would allow Republicans to offer a vote on trial resolutions, allow for Republicans to offer points of order and then move to dismiss.
