Interesting how entertainers keep making the same mistakes as the Dixie Chicks.

But, yeah, get on stage and alienate half your fans, who just came to the show to forget politics for a while.

And like the Dixie Chicks moment, some of the uninitiated will cry freedom of speech. Well, Mellencamp is free to express his viewpoints but the fans are free to use their feet, their volume dial and their $$$ how they see fit.

I had this same experience at a Jackson Browne show in Ohio.  He just wouldn't shut up about politics.  Song.  Lecture.  Song.  Lecture.  Song.  Lecture.  And the biggest insult of all is that I paid money to hear it.

Nah. Just 'Shutup and sing'... It's a staple of Country folks all over. Farm-Aid included. Nobody's there for the preaching.
