Stormy Daniels claims lawyer filed defamation suit against Trump over her objections

Stormy Daniels testified that her attorney filed a defamation suit on her behalf against Trump in 2018 over her objections.

"It seemed like a bad choice, not worth it," she told jurors.

Daniels lost the suit, and an appeals court has ordered her to pay $122,000 in Trump's legal bills.

Daniels apologizes to court reporter for talking too fast

During a quick sidebar before cross-examination, Stormy Daniels apologized to the court reporter for talking to fast.

"Is that better? I talked slower for you," Daniels told the court reporter.

She then added, "I'm sorry."

Move to mistrial serves as a reminder of the wild Stormy Daniels morning testimony

The mistrial move was a reminder of just how wild Stormy Daniels' testimony was this morning.

Judge, court reporter and prosecutor all had to ask her to slow down at times. And Judge Juan Merchan told her several times to answer only the questions she was asked as she embarked on asides and diversions.

Most notably, she seemed to have no recollection of how she ended up half undressed on the bed, something very different to the account of a consensual affair she was trying to sell in 2016.

So it was no surprise that the defense moved for a mistrial, on the grounds that her testimony would poison the jury againt their client. This is what defenses do. And it was no real surprise either that Judge Juan Merchan said there insufficient grounds for a mistrial.

Stormy Daniels seems agitated by questions from Donald Trump’s attorney Susan Necheles early on in cross-examination.

Her tone has changed slightly as she answers questions in a matter-of-fact way, sometimes punchy at a louder volume, when speaking with Necheles.

Meanwhile, Trump appears to be reclined back in his seat sitting between Emil Bove and Todd Blanche.

The cross examination is riveting stuff.

Susan Necheles opened up by asking Stormy Daniels whether she had rehearsed for this moment with prosecution lawyers.

Daniels did not like that line of questioning and bristled.

She sat up straight, jutting her jaw to one side in defiant fashion, as she tried to hit the questions straight back at the questioner.

That set the tone for an increasingly bad tempered encounter as the defense tries to make out that she is a money-grabbing chancer.

That's a two way street. Didn't Trump try to destroy her over her trying to get out of the NDA "for her story"? Trump has a long trail of wreckage of people he's destroyed via lies. If she was telling the truth and Trump was calling her a liar, who holds the higher moral ground?

Now, I'm not suggesting that this farce of a trial involves any actual crime on Trump's part. It is setting a terrible legal precedence.
