Cohen tells the court he went to Allen Weisselberg to get funding to buy the Karen McDougal story

Michael Cohen told the court how he went to Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg to get the money for Karen McDougal’s ‘life rights’.

Weisselberg said it would ‘defeat the purpose’ if the money came from the business.

The point was not to have Trump’s name affiliated with the story at all.

Cohen therefore asked Weisselberg to come up with other ways to provide the cash.

One of the ideas was to ‘come up with a LLC’ or limited liability company to facilitate the payment.

This led to 10 or 12 conversations with Weisselberg about the McDougal transaction, Cohen told the court.

Trump claimed 'locker room talk' spin on 'damaging' Access Hollywood tape was Melania's idea, Cohen says

The plan to dismiss the "Access Hollywood" tape -- in which Trump brags on a hot mic about grabbing women by their genitals -- as "locker room talk" was Melania Trump's idea, Trump claimed in a conversation with Cohen, Cohen testified.

"We needed to put a spin on this, and the spin he wanted was that he was locker room talk," Cohen testified, glancing jury.

"He told me that that’s what Melania thought it was," Cohen added.

Cohen also admitted that "the sum and substance of the recording is quite damaging."

Chris Cuomo texted Cohen about 'Access Hollywood' tape: 'He's dying right now'
By Kyle Schnitzer

Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo texted Michael Cohen while he was in London with family about how he was going to handle the "Access Hollywood" tape — with Cuomo claiming Trump was "dying right now."

Cohen testified that Cuomo texted him on October 8, 2016 asking if he was going to defend Trump.

"You going to defend him?" Cuomo asks, which Cohen responded by saying, "I'm in London."

Cohen went on, "I have been asked by everyone to do shows starting Tuesday," and then followed up with another text, saying, "Not sure what I will do."

Cuomo then texted Cohen insinuating it could kill Trump's campaign.

"Will be too late. He is dying right now," Cuomo said in the text.

When asked who Cuomo referred to as "dying," Cohen testified that he meant Trump.

"When he referred to he, he meant Mr. Trump. That he meant this is a tremendously negative story in regard to the Trump campaign," Cohen testified.

This was about a month before the election, Cohen testified, and that it would impact "especially with women votes."
