A wise decision, DC. Why anyone would want to ride that merry-go-round to nowhere is beyond me.  It's such an unfruitful use of your time.

You do understand this is a political site were politics and candidates are debated, correct?
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

It boggles the mind of some that, to many of us, elections are still ultimately about issues and policy vs personality and  entertainment

That it’s still about record and policy proposals and evaluating both and weighing pros and cons

@LMAO

Of course I do! And when I see legitimate debate, I'll either participate or read and enjoy the exchange of ideas. But, OMG! When the debate goes around and around and around and around and around, it's just stale. Everyone has taken to their corners and no one is hearing the other's argument.

Snark. Insult. Smackdown. Repeat. I'd rather hear what Americans have done to help pull this country back from the brink. When y'all's grandkids ask what you did to help save the republic (assuming we're able to), what will you be able to tell them?

That I didn’t vote for a candidate that continued to spend this country into an already unsustainable debt cycle that threatened their economic future and standard of living for starters

Why do you find that funny? As the debt continues to rise, more money needs to be printed and borrowed just to pay the interest. That crowds out more private investment and brings on more inflation.

You asked the question and I gave you an answer. Unless you disagree. If so, I’m interested in your take why you don’t believe that the rising debt load is a threat to America’s economic future

The American people are unhappy with the state of the economy. Why? Rising prices. I don’t think they’re gonna be any less upset about it  under Donald Trump then they are with  Biden

I don't disagree that we've got big -- YUGE -- problems with our debt. But before we can address that, we have to wrestle back the nation from certain ruin if it falls into the hands of the Dems. Trump has only 4 years if he wins. If you don't like what he's done/doing, he'll be gone in 4 years. Biden has damaged us beyond recognition in 3 years. Do you honestly think we will still be a constitutional republic after 5 more years of Biden, or rather, Harris?

You're being asked this by someone who got ZOTTED for not being on the Trump train. I'm not exactly part of Trump's base, but the Biden administration and the unrecognizability of our nation has caused me to run to the arms of Trump for sheer survival. I AM SCARED SPITLESS. And even more so when fellow Americans are ready to allow our demise for their high and mighty principled stance.

I can't remember who said it (@Bigun? @sneakypete?), but someone called Trump a placeholder (1) to prevent our demise and (2) until we can get a more conservative conservative as a candidate. In a perfect world, we get to have our most conservative candidate (although I doubt there would be agreement on that), but this isn't a perfect world.

In addition, we used every possible opportunity to convince others posing as Republicans how their embrace of reckless monetary policy and massive debt is leading to the destruction of said Republic.  Only then will they recognize their enemy.  They will  understand that their only hope of recreating that lost republic is through the establishment of limited government empowered only by the constraint of
existing within its means.

Seriously? You gonna run with that? I doubt your grandchildren will even be speaking to you after they realize the part you played in allowing the Democrats to topple our republic. If you're dead and gone, they'll be peeing on your grave. They'll be overrun with illegals. They'll likely be victims of crime (Dems aren't known for law and order).

Assuming they're white, they'll be punished for their ethnicity because, of course they're white supremacists.

They'll be driving EVs -- if they're allowed to drive at all. They could be corralled to the nearest 15-minute city and forced to rely on some type of peoplemover for transportation. And China will be all the more powerful as the US fades and must depend on them for everything that makes EVs run.

With our schools already being indoctrinal institutions, what awaits your grandkids' grandkids?

Immorality will be unchecked since many will fall away from faith in God. After all, the FBI is already calling us terrorists in the first Biden administration. Why, they'll have to release thousands of violent criminals to make room for those scary believers who walk in the counsel of the Lord. Texas may as well admit defeat and remove the razor wire. There will be no need for a border if the Dems have a second bite at the apple.

I could go on. I shouldn't have to. Anyone who can't see the writing on the wall is someone I simply can't understand.

When you get past this hyperbolic post, the reality is when your grandkids see their economic opportunity and standard of living decline as a result of unsustainable monetary fiscal and monetary policy, they’ll be more likely to embrace socialism

@Bigun

Thanks. The visual helps to explain why I'm being crushed. I'd love to see the full spectrum of the inflationary prices we've been hit with. Gas. Insurance. Electricity. Home repairs. Car repairs. Etc. It's terrifying to be a senior on a modest fixed income under this administration. Sometimes when I let myself think about it, it's hard to take a deep breath.

I simply do not understand your angst over a bible endorsement --- especially for one that has been around for a while and includes the fundamentals of our American Republic.  Young voters are moving toward Trump big time.  Imagine if he ends up pointing even a few hundred of them to their first bibles and the Constitution.   Feels like a good to me.

But, we can't have this, because you hate the man.

To accuse me of spreading hate is quite low and despicable, even for you @Right_in_Virginia

Take a good look in the mirror. Are you so filled with hate that you accuse others of hating Trump because they don't agree with his policies, his actions, his narcissism and his character assassination of conservatives and ultimately your viewpoint?

Trump made 'his' bible endorsement about him, selling the 'Word of God' for his own profit. Again, I agree with some of the Evangelical leaders; the troubling aspect here is […] the marketing of it, the Americanization of it, the "Trump-ification" of it.

This conversation that you brought up about 'hate' is over.  Hate is a very strong word and one that I do not take lightly.  I don't 'hate' anyone @Right_in_Virginia , contrary to what you accuse me of.

Have a wonderful day!

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

On debt and spending, Trump is worse than Biden. Growing the government with the idea that you have to wrestle it back from the Democrats just leaves a larger federal government  for Democrats to wield its power when they win the WH again

And as far as a placeholder, that never works. Since the 22nd Amendment, the party that held the WH for two years has always been followed by the opposition party. The only exception was two years of Reagan followed by GWB. What will happen is a Democrat will follow Trump and pray it isn’t an Elizabeth Warren type

So the voters won’t mind inflation under a second Trump term?

Trump has no realistic plans to deal with inflation. For example, he claimed we would drill oil to pay for SS. He wouldn’t get near enough money from oil to even make any kind of a dent. Let’s say there was a glut of oil on the market. The price would drop and you would lose money on that to pay for Social Security.

Donald Trump throws a lot of proposals out that don’t survive scrutiny but not that his supporters care

Absolute BS! Trump unleashed energy production in this country and THAT reduced the price of everything even with all the spending. Biden undid all of that and prices skyrocketed.

There are many leftists hatching all kinds of nefarious talking points, and it seems like we're being treated to such a deception right here. Why else would we hear zero about the evil doings of the Democrats? Hmmmm.... Rather it's a constant drumbeat of Trump, Trump, Trump. Again I say hmmmm...  *hmmmm*
