Too little, too late.  You kick someone when they are down, so they don't get back up again.

Everyone figured someone else would convict Trump before the 2024 election.  Now it's too late for most of criminal cases to be adjudicated before this November's General Election.

Now, that's funny. 

What isn't funny is that grift is an accepted part of many of our federal pols. 

We expect it of them.
