COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — President Joe Biden is looking for an easy victory Saturday in South Carolina’s Democratic primary that officially kicks off his party’s nominating process, validating a new lineup he championed to better empower Black voters who helped revive his 2020 campaign.

Biden is overwhelmingly favored against Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips and self-help author Marianne Williamson. Yet the long and sometimes contentious process that saw the Democratic National Committee officially replace Iowa with South Carolina in its presidential primary’s leadoff spot has made what’s unfolding noteworthy.

The GOP’s South Carolina primary is Feb. 24.

Arguing that voters of color should play a larger role in determining the Democratic presidential nominee, Biden championed a calendar beginning in South Carolina. The state is reliably Republican, but 26% of its residents are Black.

A "win"... over whom?
Who else is on the ballot?

Or, is it gonna be a Soviet-style election?
(only one candidate from which to choose)

Such a major cluster! But anyways, Dean Phillips of Minnesota and  Marianne Williamson I believe are also on the ballot -- of course Joe will win and declare an enormous victory.  *****rollingeyes*****

Low turnout in South Carolina primary as some Democratic voters eye GOP contest instead

Despite a major push from the Biden campaign and national Democrats for strong turnout in the South Carolina primary, the vote count was far below what was recorded in the 2020 nominating contest as some registered Democrats eye the GOP primary later this month.

The primary election was called for President Joe Biden shortly after the polls closed at 7 p.m., with the president earning 96% of the vote and easily besting his two challengers, Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) and author Marianne Williamson. But with about 95% of the results tallied, only 131,870 ballots were cast — far below the 539,263 who voted in the more competitive Democratic primary in 2020.

Democrats were concerned about low turnout numbers as some polling places were mostly empty throughout the day, with some locations reporting only a couple dozen votes by mid-afternoon.
