WOW..this coming from CBS News

CBS: Strike Targets Likely Dodged Strikes Because Biden Telegraphed Strikes, That Was ‘Intentional’

During CBS’s coverage of Friday’s American strikes in response to the fatal drone attack on U.S. soldiers, CBS News National Security Correspondent David Martin stated that because the Biden administration “has done such a job of telegraphing this strike” it’s likely that “all” of the people the U.S. was looking to hit have hidden from the strikes and “we’re not probably going to get the individuals this time,” and Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent and “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan reported, “a lot of those IRGC Quds Force trainers have left Iraq and Syria knowing this was coming, and that is also intentional by the United States.”

Martin stated, “The administration has done such a job of telegraphing this strike ever since Monday, when President Biden said he had decided on a response, that you have to assume that all of the personnel that the U.S. might be looking for have gone to ground, either having left the country entirely or having surrounded themselves with women and children, which is usually a pretty good safeguard against getting hit by a U.S. bomb. So, we’re not probably going to get the individuals this time, but there are going to be a lot of locations that are damaged or destroyed.”

Host Norah O’Donnell then asked Brennan, “There has been some criticism of this administration that the President telegraphed that strikes were coming. There has been some reporting that a number of these Iranian intelligence and military officials who perhaps were in Syria and Iraq assisting those militias there have already fled, what do we know about that?”

Brennan responded, “That’s exactly right, David put his finger on that. And sources in the region told me as much, that a lot of those IRGC Quds Force trainers have left Iraq and Syria knowing this was coming, and that is also intentional by the United States. The U.S. has not assessed that Tehran directed this attack. But President Biden did say he holds Iran responsible for providing the weapons and the assistance to the militias that did. So, they are drawing a distinction there, and part of this attempt is to avoid a direct conflict with the State of Iran, instead taking on these proxy forces.”

Forgot what time?...unbelievable  :thud:

In other news, Franklin Roosevelt announced that an armada of LVTs will be arriving on the eastern beaches of the Normandy peninsula on June 6.

Wesley Clark: ‘We Didn’t Really Deter Iran’ with Strikes, We Telegraphed to ‘Avoid Excessive Casualties’ Among Targets

During CNN’s coverage of Friday’s American strikes in the Middle East, CNN Military Analyst and former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Wesley Clark (Ret.) argued that the telegraphing of the strikes by the Biden administration was to “avoid excessive casualties among these groups, let them know we’re coming.” And “we didn’t really deter Iran’s hostility to the United States.”

Host Lynda Kinkade asked, “They also know that the U.S. gave warning before carrying out these strikes. Why would the U.S. do that?”

Clapper: We Shouldn’t Have Said We Are Not Going to Strike in Iran

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said Friday on CNN’s “NewsNight” that the Biden administration shouldn’t have said we would not target Iran in the latest military strikes in response to attacks on U.S. bases in the Middle East.

CBS’s Martin: Military ‘Perplexed’ by How Much Biden ‘Telegraphed’ Strikes, Gave Bad Guys Time to Hide

On Friday’s “CBS Evening News,” CBS News National Security Correspondent David Martin reported that the U.S. military “was perplexed by the degree to which” the Biden administration “telegraphed these strikes” in response to the fatal drone attack on U.S. soldiers, because the telegraphing “gave the militia leaders and Iranian operatives in Iraq and Syria time to either get out of the country or go to ground by surrounding themselves with women and children.” But also reported that more strikes are planned and if the strikes on Friday were successful, the Iranian-backed militias “won’t have much to work with” to resume strikes once they come out of hiding.

Host Norah O’Donnell asked, “So, just about that, the president essentially telegraphed that some of these strikes would be coming. Did that impact their effectiveness?”

Martin responded, “Well, the military was perplexed by the degree to which the administration telegraphed these strikes, because it gave the militia leaders and Iranian operatives in Iraq and Syria time to either get out of the country or go to ground by surrounding themselves with women and children. But if the militias intend to resume their strikes against American troops, sooner or later, they have to come out of hiding. And if tonight’s strikes were successful, when they come out of hiding, they won’t have much to work with.”

US drops 125 bombs on 85 targets linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guard in devastating airstrikes on Iraq and Syria: Biden warns retaliation for drone attack that killed three soldiers will CONTINUE after long-range bombers and drones hit Middle East

By WILLS ROBINSON FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

The U.S. has launched a devastating wave of airstrikes on Iran's Revolutionary Guard and militants in Iraq and Syria in retaliation for the drone strike that killed three U.S. troops.

Multiple long-range bombers and drones hit 85 targets with 125 bombs over 30 minutes in the widespread military operation on Friday night ordered by President Joe Biden.

As explosions rang out across the Middle East the president said the payback strikes will continue 'at times and places of our choosing' and warned militias: 'If you harm an American, we will respond'.

Wowie!  They hit 85 targets!  Were any strategic or did they hit parking lots, latrines, camels, garbage pits and the like?  In Viet Nam they sometimes hit "gray troop carriers" with excess bombs.

Jordan took part in strikes in Syria, senior Middle East national security official says

Jordanian F16s took part in the strikes against Iranian proxy targets in Syria overnight Friday, a senior Middle East national security official confirmed to Fox News.

Jordan participated in the retaliatory strikes in part because the attack on U.S. forces took place inside Jordanian territory in violation of international law, the official said.

Additionally, there is a long history of Iran-backed proxy groups attacking Jordanian border areas regularly as part of an elaborate drug smuggling effort to finance Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps activities in Syria.

Iranian-backed militias have trafficked Captagon, a highly addictive amphetamine, as well as weapons in order to fund their operations. The smuggling efforts have destabilized societies in the Middle East, mostly in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Arab states, by introducing addictive drugs to the population.

Another Middle Eastern source added that prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq by U.S. forces, Iran had no footholds in Iraq or Syria, Al Qaeda did not exist in Iraq, nor ISIS in Iraq or Syria.

Fox News' Jennifer Griffin contributed to this update.

US airstrikes in Iraq, Syria reportedly kill nearly 40
The US retaliatory airstrikes launched in Iraq and Syria have reportedly killed more than 30 people, according to Iraqi and Syrian officials.

Iraq said the airstrikes killed 16 people including civilians. In Syria, the strikes killed 23 people who had been guarding the targeted locations, said Rami Abdulrahman, director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an organisation that reports on war in Syria.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that forces conducted airstrikes on more than 85 targets in Iraq and Syria against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force and affiliated militia groups. The strikes were carried out by long-range B-1 bombers and were President Biden's first response to the attack by Iran-backed militia groups that killed three American soldiers in Jordan last weekend.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said after the strikes that Biden had directed additional action against the IRGC and those linked to it. "This is the start of our response," Austin said.

"We do not seek conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else, but the president and I will not tolerate attacks on American forces," Austin said.

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Jack Reed says strikes were 'strong, proportional response'

Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, praised the U.S. retaliatory strikes in Iraq and Syria as a "strong, proportional response."

President Biden ordered the strikes in response to a drone attack in northeast Jordan that killed three U.S. service members and wounded dozens more.

“This was a strong, proportional response. In fact, the 85 targets struck tonight mark a greater number than the prior administration. Iran’s proxy forces in Syria and Iraq have been dealt a significant blow, and Iranian-linked militias around the Middle East should understand that they, too, will be held accountable," Reed said in a statement.

“I salute the brave U.S. military members who carried out today’s strikes, and I support President Biden’s robust action. These strikes, in concert with wise diplomacy, send a clear signal that the United States will continue to take appropriate action to protect our personnel and our interests," he continued.

“I am confident the Biden Administration will continue to respond and safeguard the American people.”
