The heartbroken families of the two female US soldiers killed by a drone strike in Jordan say the young women were best friends — as their moms recalled their final phone calls with their hero daughters.

Army Reserve Spcs. Kennedy Sanders, 24, and Breonna Moffett, 23, both from Georgia and the children of US veterans, had become close friends after meeting in basic training in 2019.

Moffett was even featured in one of Sanders’ TikTok videos of her deployment overseas in October, with the older soldier poking fun at Moffett for dipping hot sauce in the maple syrup for her breakfast waffles. Moffett fired back by mocking Sanders’ use of hot sauce in her cheese.

In one of Moffett’s TikTok videos in the same week, the women could be seen laughing along with a group of friends as they trash-talked one of the eateries they visited while overseas.

Savannah Mayor orders flags be lowered to honor soldier killed in drone strike, addresses her return

Mayor Van Johnson addressed the death of a Savannah soldier, killed in the drone attack in Jordan, during his weekly press conference Tuesday.

The blast took the lives of three Georgia soldiers and injured dozens more.

"Our city is heartbroken," Johnson said.

Breonna Moffett was a 2019 graduate of Windsor Forest High School.

"No parent, no community ever expects to hear the type of news that Breonna's parents received," Johnson said. "And certainly our thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family."

Johnson said he has ordered flags at city buildings be lowered to half-mast until after Moffett's funeral.  .  .

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs said Sunday’s Iranian-backed drone attack that killed three U.S. soldiers based in Jordan also injured 40 members of the Arizona National Guard.

Six of those Guard members are still out of commission while the other 34 have been cleared to return to duty, according to the Guard.

“I am heartbroken to hear reports of the Arizona National Guardsmen wounded in action during the attack in Jordan,” Hobbs tweeted. “I’m actively monitoring the situation and my administration is in contact with AZ NG Adjutant General Muehlenbeck. We are ready to offer support for the Guardsmen and their families, and will be prepared to take action as the situation develops.”

Two of the soldiers killed Sunday — Spc. Kennedy Sanders and Spc. Breonna Moffett — were both posthumously promoted to the rank of sergeant by the Army Reserve on Tuesday.

Three of the Arizona guard members were medically evacuated from the area, but are expected to recover, according to 12 News.

"Facts of this attack are still being collected and it is unknown at this time how many Arizona service members were impacted," the Arizona National Guard said in a statement. The guard confirmed that servicemen were in the area at the time of the attack.

The idea that the Pentagon needs time to plan hoiw to retaliate is a tragic commentary on the incompetence of the Biden team. Iranian proxies have been attacking Americans for months. Surely there have been contingency plans sitting in the Pentagon with target lists,etc. It should have been a 24 hour decision cycle and maybe at most another 24 hours for implementation.

Iranian officials warned Wednesday that the country will respond “decisively” to any U.S. threat as the Biden administration considers a response to the weekend drone attack that killed three U.S. soldiers in Jordan.

“The Islamic Republic would decisively respond to any attack on the county, its interests and nationals under any pretexts,” Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, said Wednesday, the state-run IRNA news agency reported.

He added that any potential Iranian retaliation would be a “strong response,” but did not elaborate on the details, the Associated Press reported.

The suicide drone attack was carried out by Iran-backed militia groups, which targeted Tower 22, a U.S. base in Jordan early Sunday morning, according to the Pentagon. It killed three soldiers who were serving in the Army Reserve and wounded about 40 others.

The attack — which marked the first time U.S. service members have been killed since the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October — has ramped up the pressure on the Biden administration to retaliate against Tehran. American troops have been targeted by Iranian-backed groups more than 160 times since the onset of the conflict in the region and several Republican lawmakers have called for the White House to take swift and decisive action.

The family of a soldier recently killed in Jordan broke down during a call Tuesday with President Biden.

In a video by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, Shawn Sanders and Oneida Oliver-Sanders take a call from the president in which he expresses his condolences over the death of their daughter Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders in a suicide drone attack last weekend.

“Shawn, I wish I didn’t have to make this call,” Biden said. “I know there’s nothing anybody can say or do to ease the pain. I’ve been there.”

“Yes, sir, we understand,” Oliver-Sanders responded.

“I just want you to know that I… you’re in my prayers and my heart,” Biden said.

Shortly after, the president says their daughter is being posthumously promoted to sergeant.

“Oh wow, that is the best news I’ve heard today, thank you so much,” Oliver-Sanders said as her husband begins to break down. “You don’t know how much that means to us.”

“Oh, well, I tell you what, it means a lot to me,” Biden then said, as Oliver-Sanders begins to cry. “My son spent a year in Iraq; that’s how I lost him.”

Biden shared the lossed he has faced in his life, including the deaths of his first wife and young daughter in a 1972 car crash and his son Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015.

The Pentagon on Monday identified Sanders, alongside Sgt. William Jerome Rivers and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, as those who died in the drone attack. All three are from Georgia.

DISGUSTING: Joe Biden Calls Grieving Mother of Killed Soldier and Misleads About Beau Biden Again

Chalk this up as another story that dumbfounds me, with Joe Biden once again fibbing to a grieving military family about how his son, Beau Biden, died.

As RedState reported, three U.S. Army soldiers were killed in Jordan in late January after an Iranian-backed group attacked it with drones. The deceased have been identified as Sergeant William Rivers, Specialist Breona Moffett, and Specialist Kennedy Sanders. Good Morning America broadcast the call Biden made to the family of Specialist Sanders in which he proceeded to mislead them about his son's death, something he's done in numerous calls to Goldstar families.

How many times does this need to be explained to the president? It is tragic when anyone's child dies, and that includes Beau Biden. With that said, there is no comparison between a parent losing a child in combat and having a child pass after a long battle with cancer. When a person goes to sleep one night thinking their child is fine and then wakes up the next morning to find out their child has been brutally killed, that does something different to a person. That is not the type of pain and suffering anyone should compare themselves to unless they've experienced it first-hand.

Joe Biden got to be at his son's bedside. He was able to say his goodbyes and plan for what was coming, both emotionally and practically. The parents of these killed soldiers will never have that opportunity. So no, Biden hasn't "been there," and no, Iraq was not how he lost his son. To this day, there's no actual evidence that burn pits used during the conflict caused Beau Biden to develop cancer. There's not even any evidence Beau Biden had any extensive exposure to them. He died of cancer half a decade after leaving the military.
