@roamer_1
I'm not going to fault you because you haven't read or remembered my posts concerning Trump's childish and classless name-calling. There are numerous Briefers posting numerous things over numerous months/years. It's difficult for the poster him/herself to remember their own posts. But you're wrong to assume I don't take Trump to task. I do and I have, but we've moved into a new reality since the Iowa Caucus.
Actually I remember you very precisely. You are one of a very few Conservative reads on this board (in a philosophical sense). I know exactly your stance, and appreciate your writing nearly daily.
It appears that Trump is going to be the Republican candidate, and all my protests aren't going to change that. I may not be getting what I want, but I can make decisions based on what I believe is best for the country and for me. If the facts change, I can re-examine my position. For the time being, I'm willing to vote for Trump and pray that an candidate more of my choosing will be our choice in 2028.
I am not. I will no longer support the scheme that ALWAYS puts a big government compliant dolt in the white house. Not Tumpy per se... But he's just another in a long line, isn't he? I will not continue down a path that has done naught but fill the Republicans from stem to stern with RINOs, rendering it neutered. They are no opposition. They are not fighting for me or for you.
Your argument is not valid - merely a distinction in decision about the wallpaper on the Titanic.
The only way we don't wind up socialist is with a small government - And the only way that is going to happen is to start voting for it to reclaim the Right. There is no stop-gap, because every time you settle for big government on the Right, you further anneal and confirm the 'new' direction - You get MORE of what you vote *FOR*, and small government - fiscal responsibility... Conservatism - is completely off the table and will remain forever thus, unless it is demanded.
I will vote for Conservatives, and nothing else. I will not aid in the destruction of this great country.
I'll also be praying that a Dem doesn't "win" the presidency, as the likelihood of one-party rule will be given a strong foothold by the time 2028 rolls around.
Sure... and what will it matter when you'll have your very own Democrat in a pretty red tie?
No. No way in hell.
