Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley said she would “maybe” consider Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as her running mate, saying, “If he wants to join forces with me, I welcome that,” in a joint interview with NBC News and the Des Moines Register on Friday.

Haley’s comments come as the two Republican presidential candidates have been trading attacks on the campaign trail as they seek to become the primary alternative to former President Donald Trump, who has maintained a wide lead in the polls.

“I am going to defeat Donald Trump on my own. That’s the goal that we have. If he wants to join forces with me, I welcome that,” Haley said when asked about the prospect of joining forces with DeSantis to beat Trump. “But right now, we’ve got a race that we feel good about. We’ve got a surge. We’ve got momentum.”

When DeSantis was asked in an interview with NBC News and the Des Moines Register on Thursday if he would consider joining forces with Haley, he answered, “For what?” He also called Haley a “phony” and a “darling of the Never Trumpers,” intensifying his attacks on her as they fight for position in the race.

Maybe, maybe not... Have to see what Iowa actually DOES... And that ain't a killer either - If the South gives DeSantis some wind... Well just remember where Cruz was at this time. Despite the press, Cruz WON Iowa and gained traction in the South.

In the next debate, it's only going to be the two of them.  Showtime!  If Ron can depict how liberal she really is, he just may pull enough ahead to give him a victory in IA. NH she'll take.

I WILL NOT vote for Nikki Haley. I will not vote for Tump/Haley.

I MIGHT vote DeSantis/Haley - But you'd have a long way to go to talk me into it.

I don't think Ron would pick Haley. IMHO he would be wise to stay away from any GOPe political figure.  My guess is that he'd pick Kim Reynolds for the female vote but I believe picking Ted Cruz would give him a home run.

DeSantis says he wouldn't accept role as Nikki Haley's VP pick 'under any circumstances'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis responded to former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley's suggestion that she would "maybe" consider teaming up with him, pointing to possibly tapping him as her running mate if she emerges victorious among the star-studded line of Republican candidates vying for the nomination.

"I am not going to accept that under any circumstances," DeSantis told Fox News' Neil Cavuto on Saturday.

"I'm running for president because I think we need somebody that can win and get the job done. I would much rather do my final two years as governor than be vice president. I don't think it's a position that offers much. I want to make an impact," he continued.

DeSantis, responding to Cavuto's questions about the remarks, said he doesn't feel the vice president position would give him the space to fulfill his wishes to make a difference.

"I'm in office to be able to deliver results to people, and to take a position where you're not going to be able to deliver results for anyone, that just doesn't appeal to me," he said................
