Just never going to let go of that particular straw man, are you?

I don’t know if he thinks he’s landing some kind of blow or if he thinks he’s making a good point with that line

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion

I think he's just playing, I bet he has a list of his basic themes and is now starting to try variations but they are still the same old tired insults.

They’re not even insults. It’s like he seeking to be crowned king of the strawman.

They are lines he throws out in panic when he can’t make a counterpoint when he feels the object of his affection is being attacked. And they have no connection to the point being made. No one here who opposes Trump does so because he’s rich, orange, or rude. There are legitimate concerns over not only things he did while president, but is promising to do if re elected. I still can’t get the connection between the devaluing of a currency causing inflation and me liking or not liking rich people

There are rich people I don't like, but it's not because they are rich...it's because they are trying to F'k up my way of life, I'm okay with just being comfortable and not being rich and with others being rich, heck almost all of them earned it. What I'm not okay with is with rich people attacking my comfort so they can drag me and everyone else down to a uniform poverty.

Some rich people do this out of spite or a belief that socialism is good for everyone but them, then there are those rich people who through egotism or ignorance believe that they know far better than anyone else how to do anything and only end up driving us to the same socialism as the former. Right now I would say our two presumed choices for president embody those two types.

Just let me be poor and happy.  happy77

That wound up to be my own final answer. I made it to decent money a couple times, with all the stress of it, the insecurities it br8ngs...

Since my divorce, since I no longer have kids to provide for, nor a wife to keep happy... Well I have eschewed the rat race in favor of poverty and subsistence... That sounds awful, don't it?

I make very little money. But I own my small cabin. A mansion for me really - 1200 ft2, living by myself...
and before this year's medical worry, I kept a garden, raised some beef, and hunted and fished.

Sure and I fixed computers, wrote some code...that was more of a side-hustle. But it made what little I needed. I was poor, surely, by the world's standard, But my stress level was zero... my  larder was full to overflowing... Years-worth in the pantry, freezers full to brimming with fish and meat

And me with all the time in the world to fish and hunt and camp. Free to buy and sell, and fix things
Without question, the happiest, most carefree days of my life.

Who's rich, then?

Interesting lifestyle. But I admit I’m a slave to the modern conveniences. I do like hunting grouse, and I LOVE fishing. But I also like getting most my food from the grocery store.

Speaking of game, a few years ago when my oldest son lived in Wyoming, he brought back home some mule deer meat. I found it better tasting than White tail

I prefer muley to whitetail, any day. They are of a bigger frame, to start with, so more on the hoof, and it's a better meat, with less chance of being gamey - It seems like (with ungulates anyway), the bigger they are, the less chance of gaminess... Properly killed, of course... Anything gets gamey if you run it.

But, the muleys are up in the bush. The whitetail are down in the fields, near town, and easy picking. And there is an argument toward whitetail being grain-fed.

But I like the muleys.

You sir are rich.

That's how I see it.

And that's why @sneakypete 's charge is a ludicrous claim.
And he knows it, because he's nearly my brother from another mother.
So he's just talkin smack.

@roamer_1 I have always envied you and your surroundings.  Life isn't about $$ -- chasing after the almighty dollar for what??

Over the years I have found the simpler my lifestyle, the happier I am.  No, I don't hunt or fish (I watch my neighbors fish, as I don't like baiting the hook )  but I do I love a great steak or some ribs.  Once in a blue moon we'll actually venture out to a restaurant. I tend to my flower garden and feed the birds, walks in the parks (harder these days for sure)... drives along the beach, sitting out on the patio ... life is peaceful. The hustle and bustle of the city, I don't care for - home is happiness.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Well, I have doubts that he'd be able to make it down to the water -- there's a bit of a slope down to the seawall and I don't think he'd be able to maneuver with the walker (nor would I want him to try ) Likely I'd be screaming for help to try getting him up out of the water.

Me neither. I need a buggy to get around too, at least for now...  BUT, I picked up a golf cart for nothing, and come spring I will jack it up with a lift and bigger, fatter tires... making a poor man's side-by-side, greatly expanding my offroad capabilities... I'll still need to pick and choose access, and be careful... but I will be getting down to the fishing hole... just need to figure out how to hop in into the truck, and find a tow-behind camper (which is already in the works). I WILL be fishing come summer.  happy77
