No, according to my own damn eyes. You don't shut the system off without destroying everything that depends upon it. And that's what Tumpy did... to flatten the curve.

@roamer_1

So,you are now taking the "The government is my daddy,and I shall not want" road?

Yes,I AM probably  being a little too harsh,but when I was out of work,I took whatever jobs I could find in order to be able to "get by" until I had better options.

So do/did millions of other Americans.

So did I. Doesn't matter. The bare fact is that my ability to make money was curtailed, grievously, for no other reason than government authority. YOU are in favor of that authority, The authority that did that... not me... Why the hell do you think Tumpy repulses me so?

So do/did millions of other Americans.

That option was very limited during COVID shutdowns
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Ahhh,the old "It's  all about me,me,ME,DAMMIT!" defense!

I have to admit that I am a little surprised by this.

@LMAO

I am GUESSING that is mostly true,but mostly in certain occupations in big cities.

IF there was a Covid shutdown in the area where I live,I didn't hear about it.

We were forced to wear those useless paper masks,though. Recently,I have noticed some people have started wearing them again without the mandate. Seems like almost all of them are black,and I have no idea why unless the NAACP is pushing that nonsense for political reasons.

Nice try to cover by confusing the issue.

Let's  see,here. Trump is a tyrant because he cut down the supply of slave labor items coming in from the largest slave nation in history,and your money loss is more important than fighting slave labor?

China is now "American ground"?

You are NOT a slave and NOBODY was forcing you to work doing computer repairs,so yeah,it WAS selfish.

Kinda a moot issue at this point due to your health and ability to get around,though.

And I DO admit that due to your physical problems and age,at this point repairing electronic stuff like computers might be your only option,so unlike before,you probably don't have the options NOW that you would have had back then. That is not due to any fault of your own,and there probably isn't  anything you can do about it in the immediate future,although I hope I am wrong about this.

I honestly miss working. Even working a job you hate is better than not working.

Amazing so all the small businesses that went belly up and all their emplyoees that lost their jobs because Trump and Covid Czar the evil elf Fauci shut down the nation those were all government dependent jobs? WTF? What world were you living in? People from all walks of life, except government were put out of work and many never ever got a job back because of your ORANGE GOD! Little people from busboys to construction workers to nurses and doctors all because of the whims of Trump enabled Fauci, but all you can do is post some bullshit saying that @roamer_1 is only concerned about himself because you refuse to see the point he's making? Gotcha if doesn't genuflect at your altar of Orange you just make personal attacks.......it's kind of pathetic really **nononono*

I have confused nothing.

MY money loss? Not so much. EVERYBODY's money loss? Oh hell yeah. Tumpy was a tyrant to shut down shipping, hell yes.

Like I said, different story if there was some alternative available, but there IS no alternative. I am not talking about buying cheap parts, I am talking about ONLY parts. It ain't that I could go buy them elsewhere. There is no elsewhere.

Try to find an American made water pump for a 350 Chevy. Go ahead and try. It does not exist. And even if you do, the bearings within it and the impeller will be made in China.

Quote
China is now "American ground"?

No, but Ports and ports of entry are. And he shut them OFF.

Quote
You are NOT a slave and NOBODY was forcing you to work doing computer repairs,so yeah,it WAS selfish.

Look, I am foremost a tinker.
When I could no longer make on pooters, I switched over to smalls - no parts. I switched to small engine - No parts. Hell, I even flipped cars... No parts. In every case, I was slamming used crap together just to get it to fly. And that for half of what I could make with parts available, and with a whole lot more running around, and time taking shit off in boneyards.

So you don't know a damn thing you're talking about. There is no repair of any kind that can be supplied without China. There is no tools that can be had without China. It's just a fact.

Quote
Kinda a moot issue at this point due to your health and ability to get around,though.

I am back to fixing smalls too, alongside of electronics. But the parts system has yet to recover fully. The damage done by Tumpy and COVID was a devastation. I am shooting to get my small engine operation back up for spring... But I am behind $1500 bucks in back-ordered parts and sundries before I can even start... All already paid for, and waiting on. It's STILL terrible in the parts systems.

And my income is a tenth of what it was before, if even that. And even as my health returns, that ain't getting better.

@GtHawk

That Trump feller must be one HELL of a good  businessman in order to have  been able to single-handedly put all those people out of work at the same time!

A NONE of it was the fault of the people who lost their jobs!

Ah tell ya,that's just amazing!

Do you have ANY idea what happens when you shut off the ports in a JIT (Just in time) manufacturing and shipping environment @sneakypete ?

Manufacturing shuts right off. Construction grinds to a halt. Prices go sky high as what little is available is driven upward by demand.  Retail is decimated. Repair too.

Yeah. It's his fault. Not his alone... You can throw shade at blue states that followed his emergency recommendations - But they were HIS recommendations that gave them authority to add to what HE did.

Trying to hold him without blame in it is ridiculous.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Again, you have no idea what your talking about. Millions of people were deemed non-essential by the F'ing government and lost their jobs. Millions of other people who could work found getting supplies for their business nearly impossible if not impossible to get. You being retired and getting a check from the government didn't suffer the consequences, so you seem completely oblivious to it. Not a good look on you.

They banned a sitting president from Twitter, impeached him twice,
jailed his supporters, raided his home, and indicted him four times.

And then got on TV and told us that we're the fascists.

And that is not a "good look on you". It implies that I didn't earn or deserve my retirement money,solely because you aren't getting it.
