A vandal was arrested for going on a “one-man crime spree” through downtown Boston, smashing windows at the city’s Holocaust memorial, damaging a police cruiser and even vandalizing Paul Revere’s tombstone.

Lawrence Hawkins, 46, is accused of breaking windows at eight different sites and damaging 20 tombstones, including that of the Revolutionary War icon Revere famous for warning the colonists that “the British are coming” in 1775.

Hawkins, who was living at a shelter, allegedly hurled bricks and rocks through the windows and doors of multiple businesses and federal buildings as well as the glass towers that make up the New England Holocaust Memorial from late Saturday night into the early morning hours Sunday, NBC10 Boston reported.

Assistant Suffolk County District Attorney Samuel Jones described Hawkins’ alleged vandalism as “his own one-man crime spree in downtown Boston” during a court hearing Monday, according to the local news station.

The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.

I think about 10,000 man hours cleaning graffiti from Boston buildings and bridges would do nicely. :headbang:

Too lenient.  Rather see testicles painfully removed so that there is a 100% chance of no further procreation of his dna.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
Being held for a mental health evaluation, let me guess the result... he wasn't responsible because he was mentally diminished at the time, well my solution differs from some others here, we need to reopen mental health institutions and people like this should be dropped in and medicated, maybe put him in a rubber room and dose him with acid, like all day every day and he can act out all he wants.

Despicable. Lock him up and throw away the key.  He is a menace to society
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Sad. I know those sites well. The King’s Chapel and Granary Burying Grounds are among my favorite places in Boston.

It would have been cheaper to give him a one way bus ticket to San Francisco where such things are no longer prosecuted crimes.
