House Preps Historic Expulsion of George Santos Despite No Criminal Conviction

Bradley Jaye 27 Nov 2023

The House of Representatives appears ready to expel Rep. George Santos (R-NY) as soon as this week in contravention of precedent to first allow Santos his day in court.

Rep. Michael Guest (R-MS), chairman of the House Ethics Committee which recently released a report on its investigation into Santos, introduced a resolution before the Thanksgiving break that would expel Santos.

“The evidence uncovered in the Ethics Committee’s Investigative Subcommittee investigation is more than sufficient to warrant punishment, and the most appropriate punishment is expulsion,” Guest said.

Guest did not introduce his resolution as a privileged motion, however he or one of his colleagues could do so this week, which would give the House two legislative days to address it.

In a wild three-hour Twitter/X Space November 24, Santos acknowledged he is all but assured to be booted, and called upon Guest to force a vote on the resolution, chastising him to “be a man and stop being a p****.”

Santos announced a November 30 press conference before Thanksgiving break, insisting he will not resign but will not seek reelection.

I suspect that he's done nothing different from most members of Congress. Oooh, he used campaign money for himself! See also Cori Bush, Maxine Waters, etc., ad nauseam.

Once more, I'll say it:
The Pubbies are making a mistake to kick out Santos.
Does he vote "the right way"?
With his vacancy aggravating their already thin majority, will they get by without it?

Suppose he's expelled.
When will New York hold an election for a replacement?
And what if that replacement is another DCommunist?

Johnson speaks to Santos ‘about his options’ amid threatened expulsion
by Mychael Schnell - 11/27/23 2:42 PM ET

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Monday said he spoke with Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) “at some length” during the holiday recess “about his options” as the embattled lawmaker faces a likely third vote on his expulsion.

The conversation came after the House Ethics Committee released its long-awaited report on Santos, which found that the congressman “violated federal criminal laws” and used campaign funds for personal purchases, including trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City, Botox and payments from OnlyFans, a subscription platform that is largely used for adult content.

The report has increased calls for Santos to be expelled from office and is prompting plans among lawmakers to force a third vote on the New Yorker’s ouster when the House returns to session this week.

Asked at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport on Monday if the House will vote on expelling Santos this week, Johnson responded: “It remains to be seen.”

“I’ve spoken to Congressman Santos at some length over the holiday and talked with him about his options. But we’ll have to see. It’s not yet determined, but we’ll be talking about that when we get back tomorrow,” Johnson added.

It sure seems unamerican to throw a duly elected Congressman out of office without that Congressman being convicted of something.

House dims, making it up as they go.

And if lying is a crime, there would 535 vacancies on the Hill.

House Preps Historic Expulsion of George Santos Despite No Criminal Conviction, the opposite in effect to protect every democrat, even those caught in the act of crimes.
The one party government that democrats have so hard demanded, and they seem satisfied they can now act just like that being in effect!   Never Trumpers lied so long and so hard to get it this way.  Didn't you?!

It takes 2/3 vote to expell a Congressman.  Santos can't be expelled without Republican votes.

Former Massachusetts Rep, Gerry Studds, only got censure for the statutory rape of an underage male page.

Former Massachusetts Rep, Barney Frank, only got censure for shacking up with a male prostitute that was turning tricks in their domicile.

Massachusetts Dems have set the bar pretty damn low for House Reps.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
The Fifth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America states:

Quote
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

The Congress is not a court of law, except in the instance of trial for impeachment.

Wait until he is convicted.

Otherwise, any crumb of dirt found on a Republican will be actionable, or the Congress can spend its time kicking each other out of office... :2popcorn:

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
