Can We Save our Universities? › American Greatness
Stop giving money to elite institutions

It took the widely reported, repellent, and exempt wave of anti-Semitism and violent pro-Hamas protestors harassing Jews, finally to convince Americans that their own hallmark universities are illiberal centers of mediocrity and intolerance—and increasingly unsafe.

Of course, Americans had long known that something had gone wrong at their colleges. They had increasingly encountered college graduates who were poorly educated in basic skills and lacked general knowledge—and yet highly politicized, and intolerant of different views and opinions. Ignorant but arrogant is a sad way to start an adult life.

College, the public knew, has certainly eroded from our cherished idea of a four-year idealized respite from adult employment. It once was intended to be a place where youth learned to be open-minded, tolerant, skilled, and eager to learn the nature and traditions of Western civilization, art, literature, languages, philosophy, and history.

Instead, all too often “college” has now descended into a six-to-seven-year misadventure that nationwide often results in only half those enrolled ever receiving degrees. Nearly all sink deeply in student debt. And yet for all the borrowed tuition money, few prove capable of writing analytically, speaking articulately, or knowing the general referents, past and present, of their very civilization.

Forget saving them.  Can we simply stop giving them taxpayer money?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Nope! Next question.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

The UGLY TRUTH is that the republic is dead.   DEAD, DEAD, DEAD!!!

Our educational systems have been dumbed down and no longer teach anything but socialist axioms and ideas.

Our society is intentionally being destroyed by sterilizing as many as possible, convincing these ninnies that actually believe a boy can be a girl and a girl a boy.  No one tells these people they remain for life what they are born, only now sterile!

No borders, no nation.  Soon, the majority of people in the USA will have come from another nation, not having any loyalty to the USA.  They carry the flags of the nation they claim to be refugees from.  And the idiot Congress stands there with their hands in their pockets doing nothing.

I knew back in 1980 that Harvard was one big fat joke.  I worked with two MIT engineer grads, also possessing a Harvard MBA, and both were lucky they could put the correct shoe on each foot.  That's 53 years ago of knowing the Number One higher education school in the land was a complete joke!  And these are the fools we entrust the leadership of our country with.

There is no coming back, just a future much like Venezuela.

The question should be:

"Can Should We Save our Universities?"

Are they worth saving?

The current Biden Idiocracy I am certain believes everything is just fine at the universities.  Nothing to fix here.  That is because they are teaching socialist/communist ideas, which melds well with their objectives.

Bottomline, do not hold your breath for anything positive happening at our universities.  Just will not happen.

I like VDH, but the chattering beltway class has a love for the system and either wants it to continue or try and fix it.

It's time to go Galt. The system is too far gone to fix. Let it die.
The Republic is lost.

Once again, I'm going to say it, and I'm completely serious.

Close the colleges and universites.
Send the students home, tell 'em to get a job.
Fire the faculty and administration and ban them from work in "education" again.
Open the campuses to the homeless and illegals -- they'll be of more use that way.

I'd make an exception for some schools, such as medical, engineering, etc.
But for the rest -- probably 95% -- close them down. They serve little productive purpose any longer.
