Argentina’s  inflation was caused by printing their currency to cover deficit spending

Sound familiar? That’s what brought on the Trump/Biden inflation we are now joyfully experiencing

How is he going to replace the peso with the dollar when we’re doing the same thing?

He is not Argentina’s Donald Trump. He’s a more charismatic and radical version of Ron Paul. The media labeled him as a Donald Trump because Trump is their Hitler and everyone they don’t like is Trump

He wants to replace the peso with the US dollar. How wise is that considering that we’re also printing and devaluing our own currency?

It's all just monopoly money until it's backed by something real. That includes U.S. Dollars.

All about relativity really. Doing so will probably greatly benefit the average citizen. I'd be happy if we went back to gold backed currency. Ever bitcoin would possibly be better.

As far as reducing government and reining in  spending, I wish him luck

He’s gonna find, like this country, every government program has a constituency

We even see that here on this conservative site.

But it’s either cut spending or continue with their inflationary economy

Actually if he was able to effectively pulloff completely converting his peso to the $USD, it would strengthen our soverign debt, but the most noticable effects of foreign goods would be cheaper by the sheer fact suppy/demand curves.  From a fiscal perspective it would be like adding 46M Americans.  Plus you'd see an upshoot of the currency price, if flips the switch quickly and there is a shortage (perceptive or real) of $USD.

OTOH, converting to dollars is pretty much a fungible way of them investing into our treasuries (debt0.  And at a time when then nation in question has a 140+% Debt to GDP ratio and $32T of these dollar in real debt.  They also will have turned over their fiscal policy to 1 POTUS, 535 elected officals, and about a 1000 Treasury swamp creatures. All iditots   Bad move for them from my POV.

Biden has yet to congratulate libertarian President-elect Milei of Argentina on his election victory
Washington Times
By Kerry Picket - The Washington Times - Tuesday, November 21, 2023

President Biden has yet to personally congratulate President-elect Javier Milei of Argentina following his enormous electoral victory.

According to Argentina‘s electoral authority, Mr. Milei, a firebrand libertarian-conservative, scored a decisive victory Sunday over an establishment candidate in Argentina‘s presidential runoff with 55.7% of the 99.7% votes cast to Economic Minister Sergio Massa’s 44.3%.

It is the widest margin of victory in a presidential race since the country returned to democracy in 1983.

Despite the decisive victory achieved by Mr. Milei, Mr. Biden has yet to issue a personal congratulatory statement to the incoming Argentinian president, such as he did for Liberia’s president-elect Joseph Boakai on Monday. Mr. Boakai won his tight race with 51% of the vote against the country’s incumbent president, George Weah, who garnered 49%. ...

Argentina’s economy suffered from unsustainable deficit spending that required currency devaluation to cover and high tariffs

We have a GOP candidate running on doing just that to our economy so if anything, Trump can take credit for the economic model that Argentina followed

Yes, it's probably not fair to call him Trump-like, for the reasons cited above, but anyway:

Biden fails to congratulate Argentina's new president, libertarian Javier Milei
By Monica Showalter

Joe Biden has always been Johnny-on-the-spot whenever a radical leftist has gotten elected in Latin America.

But for Argentina's new president, elected by a ten-point-plus margin?

Crickets.

He's said nothing at all to Javier Milei, Argentina's first libertarian president, on his quite truly historic victory in an undoubtedly free and fair election, with 30 million hand-counted ballots, their validity approved by both parties and delivered on election night, that made Milei president. He could have congratuated just the election if he couldn't stand Milei, which we know he can't as a fair-minded formality, but of course, he didn't. The White House web site is bereft of any pretense of congratulations from hoary old Joe.

That stands in striking contrast to his swift congratulatory message to other countries that have elected radical leftist leaders.

Sweden  gave up socialism sometime I think either in the 90s or early 2000

And this wasn’t a Swedish election. It was in the Netherlands

The driving  issue was the Islamification of the Netherlands

BTW, have folks noticed that if the media doesn’t like a certain politician they label them “far right” or “Donald Trump?”
