As we do a forensic analysis of what went wrong in Virginia this election cycle -- and there's plenty of blame to go around -- one fact that can't be ignored is that the Republican National Committee denied the Republican Party of Virginia's request for money.

This isn't up for debate. News of the RNC's refusal to provide financial assistance surfaced well before the election, with RPV officials meeting with Ronna McDaniel's staff at the RNC to request a match for how much the Democrat National Committee was committing to their state party. That match would have added a cool $1M to the RPV's war chest.

This meeting took place over the summer, and the RPV's request was turned down flat by the RNC. Not only would they not be getting that $1 million match, they wouldn't be getting any money at all.

Excerpt.

And thus the Democrats recaptured the Virginia House of Delegates and maintained control of the State Senate, in contests which Republicans should have swept the board.

Keep in mind that at the time the meeting took place the Virginia GOP was holding on by a thread to their lead in the House of Delegates and were in striking distance of taking the Senate. You don't need a political science degree to know that the more resources you pour into a campaign, the better the outcome. A financial commitment from the national party could have made a huge difference in several close races.

The way I read her response was that the RNC provides money for federal elections, not elections for state legislatures.  Or am I missing something:

Quote
RONNA MCDANIEL: You know, the RNC is not a state committee. We're a federal committee, right? Your candidates can take unlimited state dollars and your governor can take unlimited state dollars. And he actually said, 'We don't need you guys here.'

That reads to me like they were talking about aid for any federal candidates because the RNC doesn't support financially state legislators.  Don't know if that is actually true or not, but it seems to be a distinction lost in the rest of the discussion on that article.

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Who was the dumb-ass who put her in charge of the GOP?

I’m certain it was Ron DeSantis.  :pondering:

Bring your sins and all your guilty stains
Let that river of life wash it all away

It was part of the Deal Trump made with the Mailman's Son to get him to finally drop out of the race in '16.

@Timber Rattler

This is what happens when  you evolve into  a "Two-Party Soviet System". It is now essentially  a case of "THEM (the professional criminal  class we call "politicians") against us,because  they (The Uni-Party) are seizing total power over elections.

But......,I know a lot of you won't even care, and some might  even celebrate this as long as it keeps "Rich rude orange man" out of office.

In the words of the late Ronald Reagan, there you go again.

I hate to break this to you, but Donald Trump is just as much a part of the Uni-Party as the rest of them. He just lies to you about it and y'all eat it up.

I mean, it's become comedy at this point. Trumpland influencers are now openly admitting they hate the party that Trump is seeking the nomination of. It's no different than Operation Chaos at this point—a hostile takeover from within to destroy it. The illusion is that some mythical new party will arise from the ashes... when in reality, it will just leave a literal Uni-Party—the political cockroaches, the Democrats, surviving everything that should have killed them since the age of Jefferson.
