I absolutely agree with you @Sighlass I just afraid of the possibility that they could insert a DEM as Speaker. Then all of this is for naught. But even at that, I agree with Gaetz.

Most people need to check their credit limits prior to spending.

The Federal Government checks their credit limits after spending. The existential threat of a US default requires the Debt Ceiling to be increased 100% of the time.

There's no structural mechanism nor incentive to decrease appropriations.

If there's 100% chance my credit limit will be raised, why not keep spending? It's only when the monthly minimum credit card payment becomes unsustainble or unmanageable, that I might consider reducing spending.

I feel some sort of encouragement that a step forward was taken and succeeded.

The House is now in recess. I sure the heck they come up with a plan and a new Speaker, ASAP. This is where things could turn very sour for conservatives.
