The bill would impose new standards for wages, working hours and other conditions related to the health, safety and welfare of fast food restaurant workers.
AB 1228 applies to fast-food chains with at least 60 locations nationwide — except for those that make and sell their own bread.
The bill’s landmark change is a minimum wagehike to $20, starting April 1, 2024, almost $5 higher than the Golden State’s minimum wage of $15.50.
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/devastating-financial-blow-mcdonald-franchisee-163000954.htmlNewsome and the democrats in California are INSANE! This bill would cripple every large fast food chain in the state and will push the move to robotics and order kiosks into overdrive, it will force owner/operators to raise already high prices higher and to cut staffing to the absolute bare minimum. The socialists running this state seem to think that unskilled manual labor is worth $20, no doubt to be a 'living wage' whatever that means since they are driving the wage earners out of earning a wage. This is what happens when you have politicians that have never run a business or even understand basic economics passing laws on business. The MickeyD's owner/operator I worked for has I think six or seven locations now, that would mean the state would rob him of $1.5 to 1.75 million each and every year above and beyond what he already pays, and there are operators that own a lot more locations than that. The McDonald's Corp owns and operates very few of it own stores so it and it's share holders would be hit hard by the lower revenue this stupidity would cause.
