Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is looking to woo farmers in the Hawkeye State by vowing his opposition to President Joe Biden's "heavy-handed push for electric vehicles."

DeSantis, in an opinion piece for the Des Moines Register on Saturday, laid out his belief that a "robust agriculture sector is a key part of a stronger America."

"I oppose the Biden administration's heavy-handed push for electric vehicles. For many, such vehicles are impractical and unaffordable, undermining the economics of states like Iowa that rely on biofuels — while making Americans even more dependent on China. We will save the American automobile and will not let the government force you into buying an electric vehicle," DeSantis wrote.

He also offered to support Gov. Kim Reynolds’s (R-IA) request for gasoline with 15% ethanol to be sold year-round, in addition to protecting liquid fuels and pushing for gasoline with higher ethanol blends to ensure "America’s fuel economy is driven by moms in Marion, not bureaucrats in Washington."

DeSantis also said he would go after China for buying up American farmland and stealing agricultural technology, and would block ESG from influencing policy and harming farmers.

   I disagree with him on this.  He should adopt Cruz's stand and threaten Iowa Farmers with the phase-out of Ethanol by NOT subsidizing it.
   Cruz won that primary against Trump.

Cruz did win by doing that but this is about EV -- which is not practical.

This is what I feared about Donald Trump being in the Republican primary. DeSantis, at one time, opposed ethanol subsidies. Ethanol subsidies are a huge boondoggle.

I’m afraid that Donald Trump is gonna start pulling more and more republican candidates to the left. So we’ll now have two left wing parties.

We have very few conservatives left, IMO we already have two left wing parties.

This does not bode well for the future of the country. Populist/socialism is the last thing we need right now with a country heading straight into more inflation and more debt.

Rush Limbaugh used to warn listeners that trying to convince the American people that limiting the size of the federal government was in their best interest was going to be a hard task

Donald Trump is  campaigning to buy votes with taxpayer money. Unfortunately, the more conservative candidate running  seems to want to follow that some degree.

Freedom and liberty does not compete with checks. Donald Trump knows this.

DeSantis needs to do a Ted Cruz  and say absolutely no to any more ethanol subsidies.
