Weather Report from Castillo del Cyber....

We have had several days of light rain here, about .5 inches total.  Today looks like it will be on and off rain, overcast the whole day.  This is NOT associated with Hillary.  This is a Monsoon storm, which we expect every July-August every year.

Hilary will probably dump the most rain on the arid Central Basin in CA.  Bristol and Palm Springs have a Tropical Storm Warning.  We might not get much rain where I live in W. Arizona.  Lake Havasu, maybe.  It depends on how the storm breaks up, as the rain bands may grow quite large.  It may contribute to larger-than-usual Monsoons.

I have two full kegs of beer and lots of food on hand, so we will just sit tight here and watch the washes run.  We are in a good place where the Castle sits.  I made a big batch (69 balls) of meatballs yesterday, and Mrs. Liberty declared them "best batch ever" so I have that going for me.  Most meatballs ended up in the freezer for later dinners.

Sounds like you and Mrs. Liberty are all set! Thanks for the update and the meatballs sound delicious.

I am glad I made so many.  Good batch and a good recipe.  The recipe calls for ground beef, but I made them 3:1 pork to beef.

Oh, BTW the Temperature dropped overnight so I have a temperature in the mid 70's.  A nice break from the 110F days.

Am I the only one that has  been waiting days for social comments about Hurricane Hillary?

Stuff like "The only  hurricane that blows AND sucks!"?

And "Has Bubba called and tried to make an appointment for the above services yet?"

Hype.

I hope that's all it is, otherwise I think parts of CA are going to see some devastating flooding.

This weekend, Hurricane Hilary will be moving over the driest parts of the USA.
Hilary will bring 5-10 inches (125-250mm) of rain to places like Palm Springs, Death Valley and Las Vegas.
That's 2-3 *years* worth of rain in 2-3 days.
None of this has ever happened before.

Am so sick and tired of all this "weather porn".

Couldn't care less about California.

That Disney theme park place in Cali is closing.  Not for good, which would be nice, but for Hillary, the storm, not Clinton.

The real question is whether there will be enough rain in L.A. or San Francisco to wash away the poop on the sidewalks.

Gavin Newsom declares a state of emergency and sheriff orders evacuations as Hurricane Hilary bears down on California: Panic buying sweeps stores as 42M brace for 'catastrophic flooding'
Daily Mail/UK, Aug 20, 2023

Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency as California braces for Hurricane Hilary to hit today.

Residents in the south of the state have been given evacuation orders ahead of the historic storm making landfall around 1pm.

The governor's office has tried to reassure them extensive preparations are underway, including the deploying of 'more than 7,500 boots on the ground'.

But panic buying has set in and some supermarket shelves in San Diego and Los Angeles were stripped bare of essentials such as water and tinned food.

The tropical storm, the first set to make landfall in California since 1939, could impact more than 42million people.

'California continues to mobilize ahead of Hurricane Hilary's projected landfall in Southern California.

'People are urged to take all necessary precautions today' the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom said in a statement on Saturday evening.

'Governor Gavin Newsom proclaimed a state of emergency for much of Southern California to support Hurricane Hilary response and recovery efforts as the state continues mobilizing and coordinating resources ahead of the storm's forecasted impacts starting today.

'At the Governor's direction, there are currently more than 7,500 boots on the ground deployed to help local communities protect Californians from the impacts of Hurricane Hilary,' it read.

The state has prepared water rescue teams, California National Guard personnel and flood fighting equipment ahead of Hilary's arrival, officials said.

Nevada Governor Declares State of Emergency Due to Tropical Storm Hilary

Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo (R) declared a state of emergency in response to Tropical Storm Hilary on Sunday.

Tropical Storm Hilary made landfall on the Baja California peninsula in northwestern Mexico on Sunday afternoon as officials warned of dangerous flooding in the area and the Southwest United States. Lombardo’s office said current forecast models predict severe weather across the state of Nevada.

“Today, I am declaring a state of emergency due to the imminent impact of [Tropical Storm] Hilary across the state. My administration will continue to work diligently with state, federal, tribal, and local partners in preparation and response to this severe weather event,” Lombardo said in a statement. “[Tropical Storm] Hilary represents a serious threat to our communities, and once again, I implore all Nevadans to prepare for flooding, remain vigilant, and to follow all guidance from state and local emergency officials.”

Sorry to disappoint, but the remnants of Hilary won't come within several hundred miles of SF. I live ~50 miles south of SF and we have sunny skies here right now. My son and DIL who live in the San Diego area won't need to water their garden for a while, though.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Yay!  I'm glad everything is going to be ok at your place @PeteS in CA   Did your son flood, or just land is saturated?

I guess the storm just didn't cause enough problems here in California, so now their getting hyperbolic about a 5.1 earthquake between Ojai(important really only to wealthies like Schwarzenegger) and Oxnard, CA. A 5.1 in California is almost exciting as the latest Disney movies.
